Born November 24, 1924, in Lansing; died September 21, 1998, at the age of 73. Mr. Cook was a graduate of Eastern High School and was a decorated veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army. He was co-owner of Cook Herriman Volkswagon-Volvo and Mazda and more recently owner of Capitol City Auto Sales, and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, East Lansing. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Jane COOK in 1966. Surviving are his wife, Marguerite "Peggy"; 1 daughter, Diane (Howard) OIFER of Atlanta, GA; 2 sons, Dennis COOK of Lansing and David (Laura) COOK, of East Lansing; 4 grandchildren, Erica and Ryan COOK and Alexa and Harrison OIFER; 2 brothers, Robert J. (Marjorie) COOK and Warren (Grace) COOK; 1 uncle, Paul COOK; and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Septemeber 24, 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing, with the Rev. Msgr. David M. Stotenbur, Paster, officiating. The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, beginning Tuesday, 7 p.m., where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Vigil Services will be celebrated Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 416 Frandor, Suite 104, Lansing, 48912, in memory of Mr. Cook.
