Max C. CONVERSE

  Max C. Converse, age 75, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 1991 at his residence after a two year illness with cancer. He was born May 21, 1915 in Haslett the son of Ray and Helen (PATRIDGE EVERLY) CONVERSE. Max was a lifelong auto mechanic and retired owner and operator of Converse Garage in Eaton Rapids. He had been a school bus driver for the Eaton Rapids School System for over 12 years.
  Surviving are his wife, Gretchen and ex-wife, Florabell both of Eaton Rapids; 2 daughters, Leah (Red) BLATT of Charlotte and Judy (Phil) GRUBER of Ocala, Florida; 5 sons, Bill (Jewel) CONVERSE of Dalton, Georgia, Max (Cathy) CONVERSE of Howell, Phil (Janet) CONVERSE of Eaton Rapids, David (Jan) ANNIS of Robertsdale, Alabama and Mike CONVERSE of Eaton Rapids; 3 stepchildren, Mike (Judy) LOVE of Eaton Rapids, Craig (Debbie) LOVE of Brighton and Kris (Gary) PRIESMAN of Nashville, Michigan; 33 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; brother, Judd (Margie) CONVERSE and sister, Delsey (Milford) MORRIS all of Lansing and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rex.
  Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 19 from the Skinner Funeral Home with Pastor Winford Collins of the Assembly of God Church in Eaton Rapids officiating. Interment followed in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamlin Township, Eaton Rapids. Honorary Bearers were Orland Stanley, Brett Converse, and Chad Converse. Active bearers were David and Roger Blatt, Brian and Nick Converse, Mike and Craig Love. For those desiring a memorial contribution may be made to either Eaton Community Hospice, Assembly of God Church or the T.B. and Emphysema Association of Eaton County. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
