CANEDY, Mabel Lavine

Age 98, died May 18, 1989 in Dimondale. She was born January 31, 1891 in Delhi Township the daughter of Andrew and Minnie HIGELMIRE. Most of her life was spent as a resident of the Eaton Rapids area. She was a member of the Robbins United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Burr HARTENBURG and Roscoe (Rocky) CANEDY; 1 daughter, Erma ANDERSON; and 1 step- son, Vern CANEDY. Surviving are 2 sons, Wayland and wife, Leone HARTENBURG of Eaton Rapids and Lute and wife, Maxine HARTENBURG of Eaton Rapids; 1 step-daughter-in-law, Myrtle CANEDY of Eaton Rapids; 1 son-in-law, Emory ANDERSON of St. Louis, MI; 7 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 1 step-granddaughter; 2 step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at the Shelly Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids with the Rev. James P. Mitchum of the Robbins United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. at the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Saturday, 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Robbins United Methodist Church Music Department.   Mabel L. Canedy, age 98, Eaton Rapids died May 18, 1989 in Dimondale, MI. She was born January 31, 1891 in Delhi Twp., MI the daughter of Andrew and Minnie HIGELMIRE. Most of her life was spent as a resident of the Eaton Rapids area and she was a member of the Robbins United Methodist Church.
  Surviving are 2 sons, Wayland HARTENBURG and wife Leone of Eaton Rapids and Lute and wife, Maxine HARTENBURG of Eaton Rapids; 1 step-daughter-in-law, Myrtle CANEDY of Eaton Rapids; 1 son-in-law, Emory ANDERSON of St. Louis, MI; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; 1 step-granddaughter; 2 step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
  Funeral services were held Monday, May 22, from the Shelly Funeral Home, with the Rev. James P. Mitchum, Pastor of the Robbins United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was at the Ridgelawn Cemetery in Breckenridge, MI. Casket bearers were: Lowell Anderson, Burr Hartenburg, Jerry Hartenburg, Vern Hartenburg, R.C. Hartenburg and Harley Hartenburg. Those desiring may make contributions to the Robbins United Methodist Church Music Fund in Memory of Mabel Canedy.
