BRANSON, Hugh D.

Age 66, passed away on Dec. 11, 1983 after a long illness. Mr. Branson was a resident of Lansing for 55 years, retiring from the State of Michigan in 1981 after 31 years of service in the Department of Social Services and Boys Training School. He was currently employed by Tri County Office on Aging. He was active in many community services including Masonic Lodge #8, F.&A.M., Westside Neighborhood Organization, Past President of the NAACP, and an active member of Trinity A.M.E. Church for 42 years. Surviving are wife, Xedra M.; 6 children, son, Xavier Q. BRANSON, daughter & son-in-law, Gayle D. and Lewis CUSTARD, son, Douglas L. BRANSON, daughter-in-law, Carolyn J. BRANSON, son & daughter-in-law, Kirk A. and April L. BRANSON, daughter, Phyllis E. PALMER, daughter, Sheryl M. BRANSON all of Lansing; sister, Jesmon CANNON of Lansing; 1 brother, Lionel BARKLEY of Lansing; 13 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by sister, Jeanette CARNEGIE. Religious services will be conducted at Trinity A.M.E. Church, 11 a.m. Thurs., Dec. 15, 1983 with Rev. Edgar L. Vann, Sr. officiating. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wed. night at the Riley Funeral Home from 7 to 8. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity A.M.E. Church, 3500 W. Holmes Rd., Lansing, MI 48910 in memory of Hugh D. Branson.
