1993 All Japan Women Tag League Final: Manami Toyota & Akira Hokuto vs Kyoko Inoue & Toshiyo Yamada 12/10/93
This match started only about one minute after their previous match had ended. The crowd was fired up as Kyoko and Yamada started out in dominant fashion. Yamada tossed Toyota around with four back suplexes for an early near fall. Hokuto and Kyoko brawled throughout Korakuen Hall as Yamada continued to work on Toyota in the ring. Back in the ring Hokuto gained a near fall on Kyoko with a northern lights suplex but Kyoko fought back with a half crab. Both Kyoko and Yamada worked on Hokuto's leg for a stretch using various leglock submission holds. Kyoko used a Romero special on Hokuto. Toyota finally tagged in at 7:00 and unleashed an inspired flurry of offense against Yamada. Toyota gained several near falls on Yamada, including one with a back suplex. Hokuto tagged in but Yamada hit her with a great 360 degree spin kick. Yamada hit Hokuto with a Misawa-like top rope elbow for a near fall. Toyota nailed both opponents with a top rope dropkick upon reentering the fight. The action spilled outside the ring where Yamada gave Hokuto a tombstone piledriver. Kyoko then surprised both Toyota and Hokuto with a plancha. Yamada hit her reverse Gori special suplex on Hokuto for a great near fall. Kyoko hit her running top rope elbow on Hokuto. Toyota hit Kyoko with an in-ring quebrada and a top rope moonsault bodyblock for a near fall and gained another near fall with a regular moonsault. Toyota then German suplexed Kyoko for a great near fall. She and Hokuto went for a double top rope dropkick but Kyoko moved. Yamada hit a top rope spin kick on Toyota for a dramatic near fall. Toyota surprised both opponents with a springboard cross bodyblock. Hokuto blocked a double superplex attempt by her opponents and gained a near fall. Toyota hit an Orihara moonsault on Hokuto. Yamada went for her reverse Gori special suplex but Hokuto countered with a backslide for a super near fall. Hokuto finally hit her DQ bomb and pinned Yamada at 14:51 to win the match and the tournament. Everyone was so fired up and virtually flawless. Amazing action from start to finish with drama befitting of such a special match. On its own, this was as good a <15 minute match as you may ever see. IF one was to count this and their previous match as one entity, it would easily be worth ***** and be one of the top 10 matches of the decade. Breathtaking action, especially down the stretch. ****3/4
