1993 All Japan Women Tag League match: Manami Toyota & Akira Hokuto vs Kyoko Inoue & Toshiyo Yamada 12/10/93
This was the final match of the round-robin portion of the tournament. A super workrate match, well-paced, featuring arguably the top four women work-wise in the business at the time. In oue and Toyota began with fast, intense action. Hokuto then dominated Kyoko with a couple piledrivers and a sharpshooter. Yamada looked sharp against Toyota using her combination of kicks and submission holds. Kyoko then took turns with Yamada dominating Toyota with varied offense. Toyota hit a dropkick on Yamada and finally tagged Hokuto amidst strong heat. Hokuto gained a near fall on Yamada after a couple spin kicks and another after a back suplex. Yamada sidestepped a Toyota top rope dropkick and tagged in Kyoko. Toyota surprised Kyoko with her Toyota roll for a near fall at 9:10. She attempted a top rope dropkick but Kyoko caught her and gave her a giant swing. However, Toyota fought back with a rolling cradle for a near fall. Yamada German suplexed Toyota and Kyoko gained a near fall. After some action outaside the ring, Toyota caught both opponents with a springboard plancha and Hokuto followed up with a flip plancha on Kyoko & Yamada. Hokuto and Toyota hit Kyoko with a double top rope dropkick and Toyota scored a near fall. Kyoko gave Toyota a sick released German suplex but Hokuto tagged in. Yamada and Kyoko hit a double top rope dropkick on Hokuto and Yamada gained a near fall. Hokuto gave Yamada a doctor bomb for a near fall. Toyota attempted a moonsault but crashed onto Yamada's feet. Kyoko gave Toyota a lariat and attempted a Niagra driver but Toyota countered with a sunset flip for a great near fall. Kyoko blocked an ocean cyclone suplex attempt by Toyota and gave her a Niagra driver for the pin at 15:37. As a result, both teams were tied with 15 points at the end of the round-robin portion of the tournament. Therefore, they would meet in a rematch to determine the Tag League tournament winners just one minute later. On its own, this was a complete world-class effort and one of the better 15 minute matches you'll see. ****1/2
