WCW Cruiserweight Championship vs Rey Misterio Jr.'s Mask: Eddy Guerrero (champion) vs Rey Misterio Jr. (challenger) 10/26/97

This was perhaps the second or third best effort I have seen from Misterio. Both men were at the top of their game here and packed so much action and drama into such a short time given the quality of the match. Misterio turned his own quebrada into an armdrag in the first spot of his highlight reel. Guerrero took over outside the ring and rammed Misterio head first into the ring steps. Misterio dropkicked Guerrero but Guerrero retaliated with a back suplex. Guerrero hit a brainbuster for an early near fall. He ripped Misterio's mask open a bit. Misterio did a top rope backflip into a DDT in a crazt spot. Guerrero battered Misterio outside the ring and then applied a camel clutch. He then applied the Gory special on Misterio, who escaped and countered the hold into an armdrag. Guerrero quickly regained the advantage and hit an elbow for a near fall. Misterio was upside down in the corner as Guerrero dropkicked him. Guerrero attempted a baseball slide kick but crotched himself on the ringpost instead. Misterio then gave Guerrero a plancha. Misterio gained a near fall on Guerrero with a huracanrana. Guerrero briefly regained the advantage before Misterio gave him a spinning headscissors that sent him over the top rope to the floor. In the spot of the match, Misterio hit a somersault plancha and turned it into a spinning huracanrana on Guerrero. Misterio gained a near fall with a corkscrew moonsault. Guerrero gave Misterio a brutal powerbomb for a great near fall. Misterio hit a spin kick but Guerrero turned his springboard huracanrana attempt into a backbreaker. Guerrero attempted a top rope splash mountain but Misterio turned it into a huracanrana and scored the pin at 13:52 to win the match and title. Almost every spot hit perfectly, which speaks volumes about this match considering the difficulty of many of the spots. ****3/4
