-The Godfather was looking for Mark Henry. When he found him, Henry was with about 15 ho's.
-After the show opened, the announcers actually did a good job hyping the lineup of matches for the show.
-Match 1: Godfather (w/ Mark Henry & 12-15 ho's) vs Viscera (w/
Mideon)
This was worse than their match last week, although again not a
disaster. Godfather has improved a bit, including his superkick which
looks much better. Viscera challenged Godfather to a "winner take ho's"
match, and said Mark Henry could have them if he won. As a result, Henry
turned on Godfather, leading to Viscera winning after a big splash.
Afterward, Henry splashed Godfather and Viscera attacked 2 ho's who
remained in the ring with Godfather. Those 2 ho's were stretchered out.
-The Rock was seen backstage.
-Michael Cole interviewed The Rock, who hyped his triple threat match with Austin & HHH at Survivor Series.
-The previous match and angle were recapped. They showed Godfather with the ho's in the ambulance. Meanwhile, the Dudleys were laughing at this, and Buh Buh Ray mentioned that he would face Kane later on.
-Match 2: WWF tag team championship: Hardcore & Crash Holly
(champions) vs Edge & Christian (challengers)
This was a decent match. The Hardys w/ Terri were watching the match in
the back. Too Much returned and ran in to end the match in a no
contest. The Hardys made the save and they ran off the heels with Edge
& Christian with them.
-There was a shot of Fabulous Moolah & Mae Young talking in the back.
-Moolah & Young came out and Cole interviewed them. Moolah said she wanted to retire and give the women's title back. Ivory came down and demanded a title shot.
-Match 3: WWF Women's title: Fabulous Moolah (champion) vs Ivory
(challenger)
This was an impromptu match in which Ivory got a quick pin to regain the
title.
-Prince Albert challenged Big Show in the back but said "remember, I'm not the Big Bossman".
-They recapped the Big Show-Bossman feud.
-Match 4: Big Show vs Prince Albert
Bossman came out, ran down Show's father, then Albert attacked Show.
Bossman then destroyed a watch he claimed was a family heirloom in Show's
family. Big Show was knocked out with a hammer by Bossman. A nothing
match.
-Cole interviewed Chris Jericho, who hyped his fight with Chyna. He then challenged Chyna & D-Lo Brown to face him and a wrestling fan of his choice.
-The Big Show-Albert-Bossman incident was recapped.
-Match 5: Chyna (w/ Miss Kitty) & D-Lo Brown vs Chris Jericho & a fan
from the crowd
Jericho and Brown carried this to a solid match. The fan was actually
Steve Richards in drag. Chyna pinned "him" after a pedigree.
-Mankind talked with Vince about his autobiography. Vince objected to how his facial expressiones were mentioned in the book.
-Match 6: WWF Championship: HHH (champion) vs Mankind (challenger)
The Rock was watching this match in the back. There was a great near
fall that fooled everyone at the arena (and at the Bluewall) after
Mankind hit HHH with the title belt. Val Vanis hit Mankind with a chair
for the DQ ending. Al Snow came in and fought with Venis. He and
Mankind stood ground in the ring. Solid match.
-Austin was shown in the back.
-Cole interviewed Austin, who talked about the triple threat match at Survivor Series and ran down The Rock as well.
-Michael Hayes interviewed Stephanie McMahon, who said her condition had improved to the extent that she remembered Test and the times they had together.
-Kevin Kelly got comments from Kane, who told X-Pac not to interfere in his upcoming match no matter what happens. The Dudleys then attacked Kane & X-Pac.
-After a commercial, the previous incident was replayed.
-Match 7: Buh Buh Ray Dudley (w/ D-Von) vs Kane
Buh Buh Ray mocked Kane at the start. X-Pac was watching in the back.
Kane brought D-Von into the ring and subsequently threw him out. D-Von
ran back into the ring for the DQ. Backstage, Tori told X-Pac to make
the save. The Dudleys continued to beat up Kane until X-Pac ran to the
ring. Kane appeared to be frusterated at X-Pac. Another solid match.
Buh Buh Ray's overall form and execution is better than ever.
-Kevin Kelly interviewed the British Bulldog, who talked about his cage match with Test later on.
-Match 8: (cage match) Test vs British Bulldog
Test did an elbow off the top of the cage. The Mean Street Posse ran in
and attacked Test. Shane McMahon made the save and, in the moment of the
night, dove onto 2 of the Posse members from the top of the cage!!! This
was also a picture-perfect dive and McMahon has megastar potential
written all over him. The Posse got the better of Shane. Test attacked
Joey Abs but was hit with a chair, although he quickly recovered.
Stephanie McMahon came down to tend to Shane, who got a big response from
the fans for his work.
-The New Age Outlaws were shown backstage.
-The New Age Outlaws were confronted be HHH, which set the scene for the end of the show.
-The Acolytes went to a bar entitled "Friendly Tap". Two local guys confronted then and one challenged Bradshaw to arm-wrestling. Bradshaw won and a wild brawl ensued in which the Acolytes dominated.
-They showed a split-screen shot of The Rock and Austin in the back.
-Match 9: New Age Outlaws vs The Rock & Steve Austin
This was a pretty typical match with little spectacular about it. HHH
ran in but Austin intercepted him and they fought to the back. X-Pac
attacked The Rock with a spin kick and Gunn pinned him to win the match.
X-Pac and Outlaws attacked Austin & Rock. HHH came in and joined in the
attack. The four then mounted the corners and put on DX t-shirts,
symbolizing the return of D-Generation X. This angle was executed
perfectly and the crowd popped huge. Great ending.
-Overall, another good show for the WWF, although the lack of a standout match hurt. McMahon's dive and the DX reunion were the highlights of the show. The setup for Rock vs Austin continues to be handled well and one wonders if DX will now be faces or heels. HHH as a heel has been a breakout star and a face turn could spoil that.
-Most unique signs in the crowd:
"Finally, The Rock has come back to our crappy little state"
"Jabroni Drive" street sign
"I'd rather be in Chyna" (get it ?)
"1/3 of a dozen of Mankind's fans"
"Pimpin' is easy in Providence"
"Rocky fears Juventud"
"I tawt I saw a roody-poo"
"Austin fears Misawa"
-Uses of foul language:
Bleeped expressions: 2
Asshole chants: 2
"Sonofabitch": 1
