All Japan Double Tag Team Championship: Mitsuahru Misawa & Kenta Kobashi (champions) vs Steve Williams & Johnny Ace (challengers) 3/9/95
This was the best match in the careers of both Williams and Ace, in part beacuse they both peaked in terms of work around the time of this match. The match itself wasn't just fantastic for the work and spots, but also for the fact that the tensions between the two teams was milked for all it was worth. Williams was really fired up to face Kobashi and especially Misawa. The first big spot saw Williams give Kobashi a brainbuster at 7:20. Williams dropped Misawa on his back at 12:10 by dropping him off of his shoulders. The match built nicely over the first twenty minutes, especially in the complexity and credibility of the moves. Crowd heat picked up when the champions did a double impact on Ace in which Misawa did a flying bodypress. Ace scored a great near fall on Kobashi at 22:10 with a moonsault. Williams was fired up as he gained two near falls on Kobashi. Kobashi attempted a belly to belly superplex, but Williams reversed it in mid-air with one of his own in an amazing spot. Lots of big moves and near falls over the last 15 minutes. Misawa looked great in his comeback against Ace. Williams came in as Misawa was standing over Ace in the corner, hoisted Misawa up on his shoulders, and dropped him backewards head and neck first onto the mat in perhaps the most dangerous spot of the match. Misawa and Kobashi gave Ace a double tiger driver for a near fall. Kobashi then moonsaulted Ace for a great near fall. Kobashi gained a few more near falls on Ace before giving him a top rope legdrop for the pin at 36:04. A real classic that built steadily and flawlessly from start to finish. Misawa stole the show because, while he's been more spectacular in other matches, his work here was as flawless as ever. *****
