Lioness Asuka vs Yumiko Hotta 3/26/95
This was very different from most classic matches. The emphasis was less on dramatic pin attempts and near falls and more on brutal, realistic exchanges. This turned out to be a brutally stiff match that wasn't always pretty, but always intense. The two exchanged brutal punches and kicks, with Asuka getting the upper hand early. Hotta, now sporting a bloody nose, fought back with a killer kick. In between the brutal strikes, the two women exchanged realistic-looking submission holds. Not much in the way of traditional pro wrestling, this was more of a shoot-style match. Asuka was more dominant in the submissions and matwork, with the match being more even in terms of strikes. After Asuka dominated for a long stretch, Hotta attempted a comeback with some brutal punches, but Asuka cut her off. They exchanged powerbomb attempts, with Hotta first succeeding with a tiger driver. Asuka fought back and nearly scored a KO after a spin kick. However, Hotta turned the tables and scored the KO win at 22:55 after kicking the stuffing out of Asuka. Not much heat, but the crowd seemed shocked at the degree of stiffness. These two put on a real classic that was about as realistic as you will ever see a pro wrestling match get. ****1/2
