WWWA World Championship: Aja Kong (champion) vs Manami Toyota (challenger) 3/26/95
This was a super match with all the brutality, breathtaking moves and fast action you would expect. However, the match did lack heat just a bit and didn't have as tight a pace as their classic four months earlier. Toyota started out hot as usual, including a top rope missile dropkick that flattened Kong. Temporarily. For most of the match's first half, Kong had her way with her much smaller opponent. Kong basically used a miriad of submission holds and power moves to decimate Toyota. Toyota made a comeback with her rolling cradle and an impressive German suplex. Toyota hit her top rope missile kick to the floor at the 15 minute mark. However, Kong fought back and piledrove Toyota through a table. Kong gained near falls after each of three back suplexes. Kong controlled things until Toyota hit her frankentoyota about 20:00 into the match. Kong nailed an uraken but Toyota kicked out of the subsequent pin attempt. Kong gained near falls with a couple different suplexes, but Toyota turned things around. After a superplex, Toyota hit her ocean cyclone suplex at 23:32 and scored the pin on Kong to capture the title. Fans did pop huge for the result, but were not as energized during the body of the match. Too bad, because, with the exception of a couple moves, the work was damn close to the level of their 11/20/94 all-time classic. ****3/4
