**WRESTLING OBSERVER
HALL OF FAME**

CRITERIA FOR HALL OF FAME INDUCTION...

To be eligible for HOF consideration, personalities must have greatly contributed to the wrestling industry in several possible ways. For instance, there are those who have made a huge impact at the box office, with their names being crucial factors in drawing some of the biggest crowds in wrestling history. There are those who have held a top spot in the wrestling business, be it in the ring or in the office, for a long period of time. Then there are those who, while they may or may not have meant huge box office, they set new standards for any of a variety of aspects of pro wrestling. Such aspects include booking, announcing, promoting, or any in-ring style such as brawling, flying, or simply setting a new standard for overall quality wrestling and workrate.

The Wrestling Observer Hall of Fame has other requirements for official eligibility. For example, a wrestler or candidate in general must be at least 35 years old or have at least 15 years of experience in the wrestling business. Each year, a ballot is sent out to a number of diverse voters, including past and present wrestling greats, wrestling historians, and a variety of experts and writers. Each voter can select as many as ten candidates on a particular ballot for induction. At the same time, the voter can leave the ballot blank. Among these voters, a certain number is counted as having a background in the American wrestling scene, while others have experience with Japan and others from Mexico. Several voters may have a background in more than one of those areas.

For a wrestler to be voted into the Hall of Fame, he or she needs to be included on at least 60% of the nomber of ballots sent in by those whose area of expertise is in the country of that particular wrestler. Other candidates, such as promoters and announcers, also need to be mentioned on 60% of the ballots, although they are not included among the limit of ten wrestlers per ballot.

To remain eligible from year to year, a wrestler must be mentioned on at least 10% of the number of ballots from his country. If the wrestler fails to be mentioned on 10% of such ballots, he or she is dropped from future eligibility unless something happens in the ensuing 2 years that would make the candidate worthy of consideration again.
