1) Mitsuharu Misawa & Akira Taue vs Toshiaki Kawada & Kenta Kobashi


Kobashi and Kawada took turns chopping Misawa as footage began. Misawa knocked Kobashi down with a couple elbows for a near fall. Kobashi attempted a powerbomb but Misawa countered with a huracanrana. Misawa gave Kawada a roaring elbow but Kawada responded with a jumping kick. Kobashi gave Misawa a half nelson German suplex. Kobashi also got the better of Taue at ringside and gave Misawa a sick half-nelson German suplex on the floor, and gained a near fall back in the ring. Kobashi chopped the crap out of Misawa and gave him a jumping knee for a near fall. Kawada gave Misawa several high kicks. Kawada and Kobashi took turns giving Misawa kneedrops and legdrops. Kobashi used a facelock on Misawa. Kawada gave Misawa several chops and kicks and gained a near fall with a kneedrop. Kawada gave Misawa a spinning superkick. Kobashi legdropped Misawa but Misawa fought back with some elbows. Taue gave Kobashi a high kick, a dropkick and a lariat. Taue gained a near fall on Kobashi with a nodowa. Kobashi blocked an attempted nodowa off the apron to the floor by Taue but Taue then DDTd Kobashi on the apron and gained a near fall back in the ring. Kawada and Taue had an intense exchange that Kawada won with a high kick but Taue responded with a high kick of his own. Kawada and Taue exchanged enzuguiris. Misawa gained a near fall on Kawada with a tiger driver. Kawada gave Misawa two high kicks and a lariat for a near fall. Kobashi gave Misawa a jumping knee and powerbombed him head first into the top turnbuckle. Taue rammed Kobashi into the barricade and Misawa followed with an elbow suicida. Misawa hit a top rope dropkick on Kawada and Taue gave Kawada a nodowa. Taue gave Kobashi a dynamic bomb and Misawa tiger splashed Kobashi for a heated near fall. Misawa elbowed Kobashi and Taue followed with a high kick for a near fall. Taue gave Kobashi a dynamic bomb for a near fall. Kobashi fought back and gave Misawa a lariat. Kawada gave Taue two enzuguiris and Kobashi hit a lariat for the pin on Taue at 24:24 (14:32 aired). A phenomenal match with the only thing missing being a sense of urgency among these guys to win. ****1/4

2) All-Asian Tag Team title: Hayabusa & Jinsei Shinzaki (c) vs Takao Omori & Yoshihiro Takayama


Hayabusa gained a near fall on Takayama with a tiger suplex and a heated near fall with a 450 splash. Hayabusa gained a near fall on Takayama with a Takako panic. Shinzaki jumped off the top rope but Takayama met him with a kick for a near fall. Takayama gave Shinzaki a high kick and Omori back suplexed him for a near fall. Omori and Takayama double powerbombed Hayabusa and Takayama legdropped Shinzaki for a near fall. Omori gained a near fall on Shinzaki with a top rope kneedrop. Omori went for an ax bomber but Shinzaki superkicked him and hit a backflip enzuguiri on Omori. Shinzaki gained a dramatic near fall on Omori with a prayer powerbomb as Takayama fought with Hayabusa at ringside. Shinzaki superkicked Takayama but Omori gave him an ax bomber for a heated near fall. Hayabusa hit a tope on Takayama. Omori gave Shinzaki a top rope kneedrop and a dragon suplex for a near fall. Shinzaki missed a backflip dropkick and Omori gave him an ax bomber for the pin at 27:11 to win the title (5:32 aired). It would be unfair to rate this match based on 20% of the footage, but what aired was miraculously great given those involved. Looked to be in the **** range and the heat was maybe even greater than the previous match.
