Kenta Kobashi vs Vader

Vader took Kobashi down early. Vader threw some stiff punches but Kobashi responded with a ton of slaps and punches of his own. Kobashi attempted a cross armbreaker but Vader reached the ropes. Vader scored with a blow to Kobashi’s taped forehead and hit a short lariat. Vader applied a dragon sleeper and hit a big splash for an early near fall. Kobashi dropkicked Vader’s left leg and gave him a pair of dragon screws. Vader fought back and powerbombed Kobashi on the floor. Vader hit Kobashi with a chair at ringside and hit a big splash for a near fall in the ring. Vader gave Kobashi a lariat but missed a corner splash. Kobashi hit a superkick and a DDT. Kobashi gave Vader a ton of chops in the corner and superkicked him out of the ring. Kobashi hit a tope at 9:34 and whipped Vader into the barricade. Kobashi tried to suplex Vader back into the ring but Vader fought back. Kobashi superkicked Vader and then suplexed him for a pop. Kobashi gained a near fall with a back suplex and another with a top rope dropkick. Kobashi slammed Vader but then missed a moonsault. Kobashi recovered and hit a jumping knee in the corner. He gave Vader a Russian legsweep but they then hit simultaneous lariats. Vader steamrolled through Kobashi and jumped off the second rope but Kobashi powerslammed him for a near fall. Kobashi moonsaulted Vader for a heated near fall. Vader fought back and hit an amazing moonsault for a near fall. Kobashi countered a German suplex but Vader won an exchange of strikes and corner splashed Kobashi. Vader hit a released German suplex and two Vader bombs for a great near fall. Vader pinned Kobashi at 16:59 after a second rope splash the announcer called a Vader crush. A super match befitting of their first meeting. Vader’s best match since his miracle against Inoki three years earlier. ****1/4
