All About Hyde

HYDE was born in Osaka, supposedly on January 29th. A terribly cute boy, but was made to look like a girl since young because his mother wanted a girl badly. After much teasing from friends especially due to him crying too much, he decided to be tough after all. His father made him take some Chinese kungfu lessons to strengthen him. Whether that did him much good is up to your own discretion.

HYDE was from a band called Jerusarem Rod, and later he joined L'Arc~en~Ciel. He used to be the guitarist, then in larc he became the vocalist. A singer with a unique voice, HYDE can really pitch high notes. His rather solid voice can go rather low too. He writes nearly all the lyrics for the band and many songs for the band. Most of his songs during the larc days were very hard rock and upbeat. In fact sometimes you could mistake his songs as written by the guitarist, ken. His characteristic large eyes make him look very different and distinguishable.

HYDE during his solo career or actually in other words, after his marriage, his songs became more mushy (haha) and more romantic to a certain extent. His songs became calmer and lower in pitch. He seemed to have this thing for English Ensemble mixes as all the C/Ws for his singles are the title track with a C/W~English Ensemble~.

HYDE has many images and stages of his life. From his indies days trashing around the pubhouse to larc, then the arrest of larc's previous drummer, to larc today and his solo career, not forgetting his marriage, he has changed much. I guess he's just getting older and more mature. Oh yes he's growing fatter too. Goodness knows what Megumi is feeding him. He's also trying many other things. But he always has the same look on his face. Just getting more conservative. That's all.
