I have finally decided to continue updating this James Horner website
of mine. It is basically just the same as the one at www.geocities.com/hornerfilms
, however since I don't have a big Horner section I have decided to
make this part of my personal website.
Folks might say that Horner News sections should be purely about
Horner, but as well as news about Horner I'm also going to use this
space as a kind of discussion board about Horner, for example, it was
Horner's birthday not so long ago, Thursday August 14th, so many happy
returns James - hope I'm not too late!

Light as a Feather
James Horner has recently composed the score for Shekhar Kapur's wartime
epic The Four Feathers, based on A.E.W. Mason's novel of the same name
and starring Heath Ledger, Kate Hudson and Wes Bentley. A re-make of the
1939 film based on the same novel, for which non other than Miklos Rozsa
provided the stirring symphonic score, this film tells the story of
Harry Faversham, an officer in the British army of 1870, who resigns his
military post when the army is called to operation in Sudan. He receives
four white feathers from his friends and fiancee, symbols of what they
believe to be his cowardice. He ultimately sets out for Sudan and needs
to fight in order to rescue his friends and win back honor for himself.
In the making of this soundtrack, Horner utilized, in his usual way, a
blend of wordless vocals (performed by Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn,
nephew of legendary world-music perforner Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn, who now
carries on his uncle's legacy) and traditional instruments to create a
seamless musical backdrop to this epic tale of courage, friendship and
love.
The album is released on Horner's usual label, Sony Classical. In stores
now.

1. The Makings Of A Fine Soldier (3:27)
2. The Dance (2:22)
3. Harry's Resignation (10:09)
