Historical Photographs of

Purcellville, Virginia

This is booklet published by the W&OD Railway in 1916 to market their rail service to the towns along the western part of the railway. During the early 1900's few people traveled far for summer vacationing but were looking for relief from the heat, humidity and foul air of Washington, D.C. Western Loudoun was particularly popular as temperatures could be considerably cooler than the city.

Any thoughts about the identity of the homes in the photos would be appreciated.
