Historical Photographs of

Purcellville, Virginia

Around 1936, Russell Gregg climbed the water tower off 21st Street, seen here to the left of the train station and the mill which is now Magnolia's, to take a series of photos. It appears that he made at least two trips up the tower as one scene is an identical location in two shots but at different seasons of the year.

There was one on-gr0und photo in this collection... a shot of the area around what is now the location of the flashing light on Main Street. When magnifying the original photo, the date of 1936 could be seen on one of the auto tags.
