| Summer Secrets Chapter 5 |
| JC glanced over at Summer as they drove back from the beach. With every occasional glance he prayed she would not think him a complete idiot. He deep in his mind she would never think of anyone that way. She was far too nice. "Summer?" He started. "Yeah" "You wanna grab some take-out?" "Yeah" She said with a small smile. She knew he was incredibly embarrased and she didn't know what to say. On the way home they stopped by to get some food at Baja Fresh and continued home. When they arrived they both stepped out of the car and were met by a lady probably no older than 28 if not younger. "Hey Jace!" She said in her cute voice. "Hi Eve" He said and shut his door. "Who is this?" She asked, with a large smile, referring to Summer. "This is my friend Summer, Summer this is Eve Marceski my neighbor." JC introduced the two women. Eve had long brown hair and starkling brown eyes and a body that any woman would envy. "How's George?" JC asked referring to Eve's elderly husband. "He's great. I'm trying to get him to lay off those cigars but he loves them so what can I do?" Eve said with a cute laugh and threw her hands up in defeat. "So Summer, How long are you staying?" Eve asked. Eve was a nosey neighbor like no other. She had an incredibly rich husband, which left her no need to work. So during the day she went out with friends, shopped and was very good at finding information on anyone on the entire street. "3 weeks" Summer replied with one of her smiles. This smile was the smile when she first met a person and wanted to impress them. As JC looked at her he held back a smile himself. Of course Eve caught the fact that JC's lips were hard from trying not to smile. "Oh well then we might see eachother more often! When you get sick of him you just come on over. I know a great spa to go to." Eve said with a large smile. "I'll remember that." Summer said unsure of what to think of the lady. "Well I have to run. It was nice meeting you Summer. See ya later JC." She said waved a little and walked over to her house in her little white heels. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summer and JC munched on corn chips at the table as he gave a further history of his odd ball neighbors the Marceski's. "So let me get this straight. He's 70 and she's 29 and she's not married to him for his money? She actually loves him?" Summer asked in quite a bit of disbelief. "Yeah, they've been married for 5 years and she says she loves him. He won't let her work, so she hangs out, pampers herself, and snoops around the neighbors. She's like Gladis Kravitz from 'Bewitched.' Oh yeah, and he takes her on like yearly vacations to different destinations around the world. I guess it's kinda nice." JC said with a smile. Just as he finished talking the telephone rang and he got up to reach for the cordless phone. As her turned around Summer was caught up in something. Something wonderful. Something many people often dream of. Something called JC's butt. Before she had a chance to get a really good look he turned around. "It's your mom." He said and handed her the phone. "Hello?... Hey mom... Yes... 3 weeks... No... Ok... I will... I promise I will call him... Yes... I know... Mom, I already told you I would call him... I'm not using a tone... I'm speaking normally... Ok bye... I love you too... Bye." Summer finished speaking to her mother and hung up the phone. "So..." JC started trying to find out what she had said. He wondered who it was so urgent for her to call. "Yeah?" Summer said. She knew he wanted to know about the conversation. "What did she say?" "She said Hi, and asked how I was and how you were. She wanted to know how long I was staying and if I was having fun, and she insists upon me calling someone." "Who?" "Landon. Landon Brewer. His father is some big shot neurosurgeon and his family is part of high society and he's nice, smart, good looking and just about perfect. He graduated from Princeton and he works in Walstreet and makes tons of money. And my parents have me very intent on marrying him." Summer explained. "Sounds great." JC said trying to sound happy for her. This Landon guy seemed like the perfect person for Summer. He seemed to be everything she deserved and more. He then felt something in the pit of his stomach. Something quite unfamiliar. Must be some of those beans of something. He thought. But he knew very well it wasn't the beans. There was something about the thought of Summer being with someone he didn't quite like. "Yeah he..." Summer started before she was cut off by the sharp ringing of the telephone. "Hello?" JC answered before she had a chance to say anything else. "Hey Joe... Nothing... No... Ok hold on let me ask." JC covered up the phone and turned to Summer. "Joey's having a barbeque tomorrow. Do you want to go?" "Yeah sure!" Summer said with a smile. She had really liked the rest of the guys and would have liked to see them again. This way perhaps she could meet all those girlfriends she had heard so much about over dinner. "Ok Joey... Yeah we'll go... what time?... Ok see ya then. Bye." JC hung up the phone. "It's tomorrow at 4 o'clock." "Ok great." Summer smiled and got up to throw her trash away. JC's eyes followed her hips as they swayed when she walked. He stared at the way her shorts hugged her hips so perfectly. "I'm gonna go take a shower." Summer said once she had picked everything up. "Yeah me too." JC said and got up. He looked at her once more and was taken aback by the feeling that washed over him. He wanted her. It was strange, not because Summer was undesireable, but because he had known her his whole life and never had he ever wanted to feel her. He quickly went upstairs so that he wouldn't do something he would later regret. Once he was in his bedroom he removed his shirt and looked over at the dresser in the corner of the room. On it where a bunch of pictures. He walked over to them and saw they were mainly pictures of him and the guys, but his eyes was caught on one. It was a picture of him and Summer. They were both much younger. She was chubbier and shorter and he had really short hair. "Jeez she's changed." JC said to himself. "But what the hell is wrong with me? It's Summer. Maybe I'm just imagining things. Oh God, I'm going crazy I'm talking to myself!" He stepped in the shower and couldn't help but think of her. That Landon guys. He could imagine Landon a good looking guy, muscular, wearing a suit and he was automatically disgusted, perhaps it was jealousy but he would never admit that to himself. Summer deserved a guy like Landon a guy that could give her anything she wanted. "What the hell? I don't want Summer!" He said outloud to himself. "She's my best friend. I love her, but not like that! She's... She's... but she... she has gotten very pretty." He stumbled and thought of her more. He stepped out of the shower and grabbed a towel. He wrapped it around his waist and walked out into his room. "Am I going crazy?" He asked himself. "There I go talking to myself again!" He quickly dressed in some pajamas and sat down on his bed. He looked over at the clock and saw that it was only 10 o'clock. "Maybe if I go to sleep this will all go away." He thought outloud. He walked out of his room and knocked on the door to the guest room Summer was staying in. She opened the door and he couldn't take his eyes off of her. "What's up?" She asked with a smile and she continued to brush her long red hair. "I just wanted to say goodnight." He said trying to act as normal as possible. "Ok, goodnight." Summer said and smiled. JC gave her a weak smile and turned away. Summer watched him walk away and closed the door. "Why the hell does he have to look so good?" Summer asked herself. "But jeez so does Landon, and my parents want me to marry Landon." Summer sighed and plopped down on the bed. "Why can't my fairy god mother come and talk to me and work out all my problems? Oh that's right because this isn't a story book and I'm not a princess. What am I talking about? JC wouldn't want me anyway. I'm just kidding myself. I should just stick to Landon, he really likes me and my parents like him. And he's really nice." She said trying to convince herself. Summer turned the TV on. She flipped on MTV and found an old episode of cribs. After watching it a while and her mind being berated by thoughts of both JC and Landon she feel asleep with a head ache and a huge tension on her shoulders. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As soon as her eyes fluttered open they darted over to the alarm clock. "11:23!" She said outloud to herself. "Wow I actually slept in." She rubbed her eyes and went to the bathroom. Summer then washed her face and brushed her teeth, she popped in her contacts and headed toward the door. As she made her way down the stairs she heard a noise coming from the kitchen. She walked in and stood at the door frame. She looked at JC. His hair was all over the place, his t-shirt was wrinkly from the night before, his pants hung loosely at his waist as his bare toes wiggled, and yet, he still looked completely yummy. She saw him fumbling with the blender and started to laugh. At the sound of her distinct laughter he turned around. "Hey" He said completely breathless. Seeing her now was becoming harder. His want for her was becoming stronger and he didn't quite understand why. "What are you doing?" She asked as she walked closer to him. "Trying to make those things you make yesterday." "Breakfast smoothies?" He simply nodded. "Oh, see, the thing with those is there is something special about them." "And what would that be?" "I make them. I give them my special touch. You would never be able to make them like I do. So step aside and let me work." Summer said with a smile and bumped him gently with her hip. The simple gesture almost made him have a heart attack. He slowly went and sat down to admire her, of course without being obvious. "You know you actually woke up really late today." "I know, I couldn't fall asleep last night." Summer said without looking at him. "Why not?" JC asked. Because I couldn't stop thinking of you! Summer thought. "I don't know." She said simply and smiled at him. "What time was that thing at today?" "4 o'clock" "Oh" She replied simply and finished pouring the smoothies into two cups. She walked over to JC and handed one to him. She looked down and was met with his hands. Those magical hands that caught her attention so often. She still couldn't put her finger on what it was that made his hands so captivating. "Thanks" He said and took a sip. "How the heck do you do it?" "I learned it from a Richard Simons cook book." Summer said with an embarrased laugh. "See the secret is you don't put real sugar in it. You use nutrasweet." "Oh" "Yes" "Why did you have a Richard Simons cook book?" JC asked. "Because I was fat!" "No you weren't" He said. She wasn't the thinnest thing but she definetly wasn't fat. "Don't argue with me. I'm much happier now." "You were fine before." "Can we talk about something else?" Summer asked not looking up at him. "Okay." He said simply and looked over at her. Her nose was perfectly shaped and he wondered why he had never noticed before. Once more he glanced over at her and took a sip of the smoothie. |
