| Summer Secrets Chapter 17 |
| ~*~ A Few Months Later~*~ The sky outside had a grayish tint, which she had been told was quite common for Massachusetts. It was mid September and finally she was at her new home a few blocks from Harvard University. This famous Ivy league university that she had see featured oh so often in movies, books and what not. Summer placed the last box in her room and looked around. It was a small apartment, but a perfect size for her, the walls where white and plain and ready to be decorated. Summer time was over. Now she was ready to return to a world full of books, study groups, tests and essays. Although they were often uninteresting tasks she was excited to being and get out so she could be on her own in the world. Without her parents and with the person she loved. At the mere thought of him a smile rose on her face and she picked up her telephone, which was probably the only thing connected in the whole apartment. Quickly she dialed JC familiar number and waited for an answer. Just to hear the sound of his voice was a strange form of comfort and she was not quite sure why. "Hello?" He answered the telephone. Summer smiled at the ring of his voice. "Hey," She said with a sigh of relief. "What are you doing?" "Hey, I was working on a song actually. How do you like your new place?" He asked. "It's great. I'm just beginning to wonder whether or not I'll ever get this place to look homey. It's so plain." She laughed. "Don't worry you will." "Are you ever going to come and visit me?" She asked a bit unsure of the whole situation. "Of course! You know I can't now but as soon as I can I will. Even if it is only for a weekend." "Ok." She smiled. "Summer, I'm sorry, I have to go. Justin's yelling at me to hurry up." He laughed. "Ok I'll talk to you later then." She laughed imagining Justin. "Yeah, bye. I love you." He said. "I love you too." She said and hung up the phone. Her mind silently recapped her entire summer and she couldn't help but think how lucky she was. It wasn't often, you fall in love with the man of your dreams and he falls in love with you back. Summer's train of thought was broken by the sharp banging at the front door. A bit shocked she headed toward the door, who would be visiting her? She didn't know anyone is there. With a flip of her wrist the door flung open and a girl with long dark curly hair stood at the door step. "Hi, I'm Gaby." The girl introduced herself with a bright cheerful smiled. "I'm Summer." She introduced herself unsure of who she was talking to. "I'm your neighbor." "Oh really? It's great to meet someone here." Summer smiled with her unusual smile. "Yeah, Are you going to Harvard?" "Yes." Summer replied. "You're going to love it!" Gaby said. "Well I just wanted to let you know that I'm here if you ever need to talk to me, or need anything." "Ok thank you." Summer said with a smile. "It was nice meeting you. Bye." Gaby said and turned around and walked two doors down and stepped into an apartment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summer lay on her newly set up bed and pulled out a notebook that JC had given her for her birthday. It was a light brownish tan color with dry flowers imprinted in it. On the front engraved in a silver plaque was her name. She slowly ran her fingers over the engraved word and smiled. Summer pulled out the matching pen and opened to the first page of the notebook. She looked at it one more time before beginning to write something she never would imagine herself doing. Dear JC, Summer is over, but this new Summer is just beginning. In a period of a month I have learned more about myself than I have ever learned in all my education from elementary school to college, and I owe it all to you. To you, the person who granted me the gift of this notebook, I have decided to share my innermost thoughts with for I cannot imagine any other thing to do with this. I trust you and know that no one could ever be more right for me than you. When the summer first began I was frightened to see you. It had been too long since I had seen you and thought it possible you changed. You would no longer be that sweet boy I had so much fun with when I was a child. I was correct. You had changed, yet the change was a good one. You had grown into a handsome man that I couldn't help but fall in love with, and that is exactly what happened. I fell in love with you, and every time you smiled at me I fell in love all over again. All my insecurities rose up at the though of you being with someone else. The pain was unbearable but it soon was all fixed. You are the most wonderful person in the world to me. For every star there is in the sky, that's how thankful I am to have you as such a wonderful friend and so much more. You taught me to believe in myself and believe that I am truly beautiful. Now I have confidence in myself and confidence that we can make a relationship work. Now I begin a new life here at Harvard and hopefully continue anything that has started with you in it. The distance will be long, but even now I miss you and think of you always. I want you to be with me everyday and that is exactly what this is. Every day I shall write something here and at the end of a year, I will wrap it and give it to you so you can see both the good and the bad of our relationship. This is only the start and I have confidence it will last forever. Eternity may seem like forever, but when I'm with you forever seems too short. Thank you for loving me and helping me, this summer was the best in my entire life. Love always, Summer Anderson |
