| Summer Secrets Chapter 15 |
| Summer brushed through her long, wet, black hair. What was I thinking dying it black? She asked herself and smiled in the mirror. As she slowly brushed her hair should thought about everything that could happen. In complete disbelief she pinched herself to see if she was dreaming. It was all too good to be true. After finishing with all the knots in her hair she put the brush down and opened the door. JC wasn't in the bed so she headed down stairs to find him. She pushed the kitchen door open and as her bear feet hit the marble floor, JC turned around wearing a chef had and holding a spatula. "What are you doing?" Summer asked cocking one eyebrow and leaning against the door frame. JC slowly began walking toward her with an evil grin. "Making you something special." He said once he was directly in front of her. "Really? And what would that be?" Summer asked. JC slowly leaned forward and kissed her lips. "It's a secret." He said. "Sit." As Summer sat down, JC headed back over to his cooking breakfast. Her eyes traveled all over him as she watched him work with his hands although she was unable to see what he was doing. Suddenly she saw something fly up in the air and fall on the ground. JC turned around with an embarrassed grin plastered on his face. "I missed" He said referring to the now useless golden waffle that lay on the floor. Summer laughed as he bent over to pick up the waffle and then threw it in the trash. "So you're making waffles." Summer said once her laughing had ceased. "But these aren't just any waffles." JC stated placing two on a plate for her. "These are JC waffles." "Because they have your spit in them?" "No, because I make them." "Are these the freezer kind?" Summer asked. "No, I made them." He set the plate in front of her. Summer looked down at in with an unsure look. Looking at expression he ripped off a piece of the chocolate chip waffle and fed it to her. As she chewed it she nodded her head and looked up. "Where on earth did you learn how to cook?" She asked as she snatched the chef hat off his head and placed it on her own. "My mom gave me a cooking lesson last summer because she said I wasn't eating well enough. So she came over for like a week and she taught me how to make everything she makes." He explained. "Hmm... So does that mean you know how to make your mom's chili?" Summer asked with a grin. "Yep." He grinned and leaned over to kiss her once more. In his wildest dreams had he ever imagined himself able to openly kiss Summer, and have her kiss him in return. It was complete bliss. Nothing could ever compare to her. That was when he remember Erin. "I have to tell Erin." JC breaking their happiness for a moment. He didn't want to hurt Erin. She was a wonderful girl, but not like Summer. No one was like Summer. "What are you going to tell her?" "That I love you." He said and kissed her forehead. Summer smiled at the three small words that escaped his mouth. She took another bite of the waffle as the telephone rang and JC turned around to pick it up. "Hello?... Hey Gracie... no... ok... well why don't you call his cell phone... no I don't know... I was busy last night... None of your business... No... Erin is done with... Summer... Yes! Jeez... Ok bye here she is." JC said and handed Summer the phone. "Hello?... Hi... Yes... Excuse me?... That's my business... Ok yes... Really?... No... I don't know... Ok I'll talk to you later. Bye." Summer said and hung up the phone. "What did she say?" He asked. "None of your business." She grinned and took another bite of the waffle. The sound of the door bell started Summer and JC went to get the door. "Erin! What a surprise." Summer heard JC say with an uneasy tone. Summer quickly got up and peaked through the door of the kitchen. Erin as beautiful as ever tried to kiss JC but he pulled back. "Erin we need to talk." Summer watched completely in awe. He actually did love her. He smiled to herself although deep in her heart she felt terrible because of Erin. "What is it?" Erin asked confused. They both sat down on the couch and Summer continued to watch from the confides of the kitchen. "YOU WHAT!!?!?" Erin jumped up angrily after JC explain. Summer hit her head on the door, since the yelp startled her. Erin turned around fuming and pushed the kitchen door open. At the sight of Summer she visibly turned red and Summer back up. "You!" Erin said pointing at her harshly. "This is all your fault! You took him away from me! I hate you! You're nothing! What was he thinking leaving me for you!?!?" Erin said angrily. Scared and unsure of what to say Summer stood and took all the words that were being thrown at her. "You'll be sorry for this!" Erin said. In one swift movement Summer felt a stinging in her cheek and watched as Erin turned on her heels and headed out the door. Erin had slapped her. Summer stood in awe unable to believe it. Before she knew it JC was holding her asking her if she was ok. "Yeah, I'm just shocked." Summer said with a twang of tension in her voice. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Dude! You always get $200 for passing go!" Summer argued. "Since when?" JC asked. "Since always! It's like the monopoly cool rule! Haven't you ever read the rules before?" "People actually do that?" "How else would you learn to play the game?" "I always thought you were kind of born with it." JC said with a small grin. Summer looked at him and laughed. "Whatever," she replied and threw a goober at him. Luckily enough he caught it in his mouth and chewed quietly. The telephone rang and JC quickly jumped up to answer it. "Hello? ... Hey! What's up?.... Good.... Yes... ok here she is." He handed the phone to Summer. "Who is it?" Summer asked before putting the phone to her ear. "Autumn" "Hello?... Hey!... Really?... No... That is none of your business!... Oh fine yes" Summer said, glanced at JC, then blushed a bit. "What do you mean?... Ugh... I don't know... I dyed my hair... black... I think it looks pretty cool actually!... Yes... No Autumn you can't tell her!" JC looked at her as her voice raised and her green eyes grew wide. Summer turned so that her eyes would not in anyway meet his face. "Just please don't... Don't tell mom anything about it... I'll tell her...sometime" She mumbled the last word. "Ok... Ok I'll talk to you later. Bye." With a blank expression on her face, Summer set the phone down and then put her head in her hands. She took a deep breath and rubbed her temples as she thought. JC watched her intently as she looked stressed. "What's wrong?" He asked and grabbed her hand with a concerned touch. "Nothing. It's just I don't know what to tell my mom and dad." "About what?" "About us." She said ashamed. After wanting him for so long she was embarrassed to tell her parents she was in love with the little boy they had see grow up and turn into a successful musician. His blue eyes stared at her intently unsure of what to say. "If you don't want to tell them I understand." He said sounding a bit hurt. "No! No, JC it isn't that. It isn't you. I love you. It's just they still like Landon... a lot. They wanted me to marry Landon." Summer said slowly. "Doesn't it matter what you want?" "Do you remember when you said I always try to please people even if it doesn't make me happy?" "Yeah." "Well this is sort of like that. I wanted to please my parents and everyone else and I said I was in love with Landon and I wasn't so now they think that I want to marry Landon, but I don't." Summer sighed. "Why does this messed up stuff always happen to me?" "You don't have to be with anyone you don't want to." His arm snaked around her waist and he pulled her toward him. Summer smiled and snuggled into his chest. "What so special about Landon anyway?" JC laughed sarcastically and looked at Summer as she smiled. "I wish I could stay here forever." Summer thought out loud never wanting to leave her newly found utopia. "You can." He whispered to her. "Harvard." She reminded. "I thought you didn't want to go to Harvard." "I don't, at least I don't want to be a lawyer." She reasoned. "I have to go. There's something inside me that wants to go." "Then you can go." He smiled and kissed her cheek. "What's going to happen when August rolls around and I have to leave?" "What do you mean?" "I mean with us. Is there still going to be an 'us' or is it just going to be like a summer fling?" Summer asked. "What do you want to happen?" "I want to be with you forever." She smiled. "I just hope I haven't made an idiot out of myself by telling you that and you actually want out and you want to never see me again." "You always seem to imagine the worst possible thing that could happen. I would never not want to be with you. I dreamt about you. I want to be with you too." "I wish my mom could just know about us and be ok with it and that way I wouldn't have to worry about anything." "Then things would be too easy." JC said. "When are you going to tell your mom?" "I already did." He smiled and kissed the top of her head. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I have to do this alone." Summer said as she gripped the phone tightly in her hand. He gave her one final kiss before walking out of the cozy room and shutting the door behind him. After taking a deep breath to calm herself, Summer dialed the familiar number of her former home and waited for an answer "Hello?" Her mother's familiar voice answered the phone. "Hey Momma, it's Summer." "Summer! Hey, how are you I missed you!" Her mother exclaimed happily. "I'm good. I just I needed to talk to you." Summer said nervously. "What's wrong? You know you can talk to me." She said with a warm motherly tone. "You like Landon a lot don't you?" "Yes I do. I think he's a fine young man, and he would be able to support you." Mrs. Anderson reasoned. "Well suppose I found someone, not Landon. Someone that would be able to support me if I needed it and he is too a 'fine young man', but it isn't Landon." Summer reminded. "Did you find someone new?" "Yes" "But I thought you were in love with Landon." Her mother asked confused. "Landon and I just didn't click, Momma. He's too perfect. I just kept the act up of being in love with him to make you and dad happy." "Ok well, who is this new young man? Do I know him?" Mrs. Anderson asked curiously. "Yeah, It's JC" Summer said quickly and waited for her mother to yell. "Summer, JC is a musician. He isn't going to be there for you and he could lose it all in a second." "Momma, I don't care about that. I love him." "Summer, I understand you might have a crush on him, but JC dates models. He probably sleeps around and does drugs or something. He's in the music industry what else do you expect?" "Momma, he's not in an 80s rock band he's in a 21st century boy band! He doesn't do drugs and he loves me back!" Summer said getting agitated. "JC is not going to make you as comfortable as Landon. You can do whatever you want, but don't let him brainwash you into not going to Harvard!" "The only reason I wouldn't go to Harvard is if I didn't want to go. I'm sick of making you and dad happy. I'm sick of making everyone happy. I want to do something I want to do. I want to be with JC! I don't care what you say! All my life I've done nothing but please you and I'm sick of it! I don't care if you approve of JC or not, because I love him and he loves me! We're going to be together whether you like it or not!" "Summer calm down. I'm not saying you can't be with him. It's your life after all. I'm just pointing out how happy Landon can make you." "Landon can not make me happy! He'll give me jewelry and presents but he could never make me as happy as JC can. And I don't know what you're talking about JC probably makes more money than Landon! And you know what that isn't even an issue! I don't care about that! Mother I'm going to go before I freak out and say something I'm going to regret. Goodbye." Summer said and angrily pushed the 'off' button on the phone. She rushed out the door and hurried down the steps to see JC sitting on the couch reading a magazine. Swiftly she made her way next to him on the couch and before he had a chance to react Summer's lips were locked with his and he couldn't help but respond. "Is everything ok?" JC asked once Summer had let go of her lip death grip. "Yes... No! My mother is crazy, but I don't care! I'm going to be with you, and that's it." JC kissed her lips once more. "Justin called my cell, he's having everyone over for dinner want to go?" "Yeah sure." "Ok then let's go get ready we're supposed to be there in a hour." JC smiled and pulled her toward him to kiss her once more. |
