Well I guess this is my last entry since I'm in Virginia and Steve has a new partner. I'm finally settled in Virginia and I really like it. Everyone is soo nice down here and it is so pretty. But it is hot! I can't believe it is so hot...a little warmer than Michigan. Steve found a new partner and he is really excited. I am so happy for him but I sure do miss him allot. I think he is going to visit me in a couple weeks. I really hope so. It has been really difficult starting my new life, but I am soo happy. I loved skating and I always will--but it was my time to move on. I am very excited about going back to school and I really love teaching skating. I want to say thank you to my family and friends for supporting me through this transition cause it hasn't been easy. But I feel that I made the right decision. So I guess that's all from this half of the Hartsell's. Thank you all for supporting our skating and reading our website. Sandy and Arlene did such a wonderful job on this site. Please continue supporting Steve on his new journey. And Steve I'll be watching you...as your #1 fan--I love you and miss you!  Danielle 6/3/2002

I've had such a nice summer.I've been to Myrtle Beach to see my boyfriend and go to his family reunion and I've been to Virginia twice.Last weekend I went to Toronto and saw the musical The Lion King. It was awesome! I enjoyed the costumes and the music so much.
I have been seeing my little niece Tessa a lot. She is getting so big and is so cute. I have been teaching a lot and took a semester off school to concentrae on training.
I'm getting excited about Evening With Champions; in October, and I'm looking forward to our first competition, Skate America.Alan Schram, one of our coaches will be going to Skate America with us. I'll try to keep in touch better.I can't believe I haven't added anything to my diary since June!

Well, it's back to work.  Jamaica was awesome! Steve and I had a great time and I was really tan.Unfortunately, we had to come home, back to reality
The last few weeks have been busy and a little crazy. I had a bridal shower, baby shower, and batchlorette party to attend. Then on May 26, a friend of mine got married. I was a bridesmaid. It was a beautiful wedding and we had a great time. The next day our niece Tessa was baptized. She gets cuter all the time. The weekend of June 8 we spent two days in Delaware doing some testing. We got to see Tiffany (Scott), Phil (Dulebohn), Larua (Handy), Jonathan (Hunt), Jeremy (Allen), Mark (?) and Dirke. We had a really good time.On Sunday we were demonstrators at a judges school in Lansing.
This past weekend I went down to Richmond, Virginia to visit my boyfriend Chris, then the two of us drove down to Myrtle Beach to visit his family. I only got to stay until Monday but we had a great time and I got to catch a few rays!
This week it has been back to work for us. We have been working hard on our new long and beginnig to run through our new short. We have to prepare to compete our short at Skate Detroit in July. (Check our schedule).

Well there is soo much going on these past few weeks... unfortunately our grandmother had a stroke, but she is doing much better, so we have been trying to keep her spirits up. Last week I got my new car and I love it. Even better news.. we recently found out that we have a new niece. Our oldest brother Scott has a baby girl, her name is Tessa and she is soo beautiful. I love being an aunt. Steve is finally figuring out how to hold her, it's so cute. We already told Scott that we were going to teach her how to skate. Tessa will definitely be a little princess...just like her aunt. Our shows have been going well. On Friday we skated in the Champions on Ice show, we had so much fun and skated well. We were up bright and early on Saturday as we headed down to Bowling Green, Ohio for 5 performances. It was so tiring, but we had fun. This week is going to be a little crazy... a friend of mine is in town visiting for the week, I have final exams and I have to move again, but on Saturday we leave for vacation. I am so excited! Steve and I are going to Jamaica for 9 days. It is going to be so much fun. When we get home, it's back to work for next season. Well I guess I'll write more when I return.(hopefully very tan!)

Nation's Cup is getting close. Training has been going pretty well. I can't wait to leave.
The last few weeks have been pretty cool. We went to Boston for An Evening With Champions.  I had a blast and made a few new friends.
This past weekend I moved again. Our new place is really cute. On Friday, The DSC gang got together to celebrate Halloween. Steve dressed as our coach Johnny. It was quite funny! I dressed up as Charlie's Angels along with Stephanie and Larisa (Spielberg). We had a great time.
This week we are just getting prepared to go Monday (to Germany). I went to the movies with my friend Alex  We saw Remember the Titans I cried so hard.
Yesterday I had class (on Halloween night :() but my professor let us out early so I had a few friends over to our new house to watch a movie. Jamie, Larisa, Kristin, Mike, Anthony, Alex and I ended up watching TV and eating root beer floats!

I started waitressing last week at the restaurant where I have been working. I love it!  It's fun but tiring. I do that two days a week. I start school Tuesday September 5.  I'm taking poly sci and art history two nights a week. That's 8 credit hours. I also teach skating three days a week.As you can see, I'm really busy.
II am looking forward to competition. We will do Regionals in Ann Arbor, Michigan in October, Nation's Cup in November, and NHK in December.
We went to Extreme EXPO in the Chicago area over the Labor Day weekend. It was great to see some of our skating friends there and it was nice meeting so many fans too. We signed autographs on Saturday and Sunday and had a Q&A session on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday night there was a sponsor party and we got to relax and chat with a lot of fun folks. Oksana Baiul and I had a good time chatting and we spent a lot of time with Tim Goebel. He says he really likes his new coaching situation. On Sunday morning I had breakfast with Phillipe Candelero. He told me about his quick trip from Paris and his 5 month old baby.
Sunday evening we did an exhibition for Extreme EXPO.At first they had a problem with our music so we had two false starts. That was a bit unnerving! But, it went pretty well.Steve I both landed our triple toes, our spins were really good, maybe a bit close, but in syncI don't know what happened to the throw triple sal.I landed it and the next thing I knew I was down on the ice. I thought What the heck happened there?During run-throughs all week we did the program five times and I fell only once.I can't believe I fell this time!
Monday, it was a quick trip back to Detroit and then we signed autographs in Monroe for Muscular Dystrophy.
I wish we could contribute to this page more often but as you can tell, we are really busy. Thanks for your support everyone, and I hope to see you at our Road Rally next week.

We went to the training camp in Lake Placid in June. I had a good time and it was really nice to see everyone again. We had a lot of fun doing Statues (to help us develop our creativity) and we had drills in Annie's Edges  I really learned a lot from Peter Carruthers and Doug Ladret.
For the Independence Day the skaters from Detroit Skating Club had a barbeque that was a lot of fun, and Steve and I were Grand Marshals in the Westland City parade, our home town. This week I took by best friend Shannon out to dinner for her 20th birthday.
Training is going so well.We have been working on new lifts including carry lifts which is an additional element we can include in the long program. Yesterday we worked some more on the throw triple axel. Our short program is all set and we are almost done with choreographing the long program.  We are really excited because they are going to be so great!
Keep coming back to our page and I'll try to keep you updated on the happenings in my life!
Saturday June 3, 2000
Hi everybody! I've been working really hard and I'm starting to get my elements back.We leave Tuesday for camp (Olympic training camp in Lake Placid, New York).I'm pretty excited to see everyone. So I guess I'll write more when I get back.  Steve says he will too.
Saturday April 15,2000
I've been skating 3 hours a day! I finally did some jumps and landed my double axel on Wednesday on my first try! Steve and I were having a bad practice and we decided to skate apart. Mitch said to me I'll give you $20.00 if you land your double axel. I love a challenge and I was up to it!  I think Steve is excited that I can actually skate.
I have 2 more weeks of school left. I'm really happy because I can't wait to have a break! If you heard Steve me on Skate Radio you know that I have decided to change my major. I love teaching kids so I have decided to go into elementary education.
In May I'm going to start coaching more and I'm looking forward to it. We may be doing an exhibition at Skate Detroit in July but we'll let you know for sure.
We really appreciate all your cards, letters and e-mails! It has helped us get through this difficult time.
February 16, 2000
We are just back from Nationals in Cleveland. We had a good time and it was great to see all of our friends.
On Monday, I slipped and twisted my knee. It hurt really badly and I was afraid I re-injured it. I went to the therapist and she said that what I did was cut off about three weeks of therapy! I had broken some scar tissue up. At that point in therapy I could move my knee 90. After Monday, I could move it 103, on Wednesday 107. When I can move my knee 120 I can go back on the ice! On February 28 I have an appointment with the doctor to get the ok to go back on the ice. Keep your fingers crossed!  I am really excited about being able to skate again.
January 15, 2000
Well, I'm feeling better but I'm kind of a couch potato. Therapy is getting harder but most of my pain is gone. Next week, I'll begin working out on my upper body strength and abs. On the 31st I'll visit my surgeon to see my x-rays and to find out if I'm healed.
Boredom is my biggest problem. But I'm getting around a lot better. I'm spending a lot of time watching Days Of Our Live;, The Baby Story and The Wedding Story on TV. I just read Dale Carnegie's book How To Stop Worrying and Start Living (I worry about everything) and I really enjoyed the book.
I started school and I am taking an English class with Steve and a Math class. A funny thing happened in our English class one day; we had to write an essay about the person who has influenced us the most in our life so far, and we BOTH wrote about our coach, Johnny Johns. We also talked on the way home about who we also considered writing about and we BOTH said Mom, Dad and each other
(Note from the Web Master - Steve says he likes to write on the fly, just winging it and Danielle says she likes to put all her thoughts on paper, make an outline, organize her paragraphs and get everything just so before the first word gets written. In this particular class, Steve was done in about 5 minutes, ahead of everyone else in the class and Danielle was the last one done!)
Tmorrow the family is going to Steak &  Ale for Steve's twenty second birthday dinner. On his birthday, Steak & Ale was too crowded and we had to go somewhere else, so this is his Birthday dinner.
I really appreciate all the get well wishes and I think I have answered all of them so far. It's nice to know so many people care.

I am sure everyone knows about my accident. Although I am extremely disappointed that I will miss the rest of the season, I am trying to remain positive. The swelling of my knee has gone down so I will have my surgery on Wednesday. I will probably start my physical therapy on Monday. I am already thinking about my comeback.
I want to thank everyone for the letters and flowers. It means so much to me that everyone cares.
I hope everyone has a Happy Holiday. Not to worry . . . I'll be back soon.
I'm looking forward to going to Germany on Monday. I just caught up on my school work and now I'm going again. But I'm glad I'll be rooming with my good friend Jamie Silverstein at Nations Cup.
When we get home Ill be anxious for my birthday [November 21]
I'll be taking my student Sarah Mellanda, who is 7 years old to our first competition together!
Then on Sunday I held a Pampered Chef party with my Mom. It was great!
This past weekend was fun. On Friday I went to see the musical Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.  It was really good..
We have been training pretty hard. Three more weeks til Skate America. I'm getting pretty anxious.
Next week is going to be crazy. Tuesday and Wednesday I have school. Then on Thursday we leave for Boston. I can't wait. I'll write more soon.
