| Maybe it is just me, but this whole anti-french sentiment that has seemed to engulf the united states in the past couple of weeks seems to be quite unecessary and frankly quite a stupid move by the United States as a country. It has gotten quite out of hand, no longer french fries, but freedom fries, no longer french toast, but freedom toast. Some fine restraunts have even gone as far as pouring thousands of dollars of fine french wine down the toilet to prove their strong distaste for the french. These instances are fairly reminiscent of the days of WW2 when we were battling the germans, no longer would you have sauerkraut as a relish to your fine frankfurter, haha no you had freedom cabbage on your hot dog. This war, even though highly ignorant and uneccesary, is with Iraq, not with the french. I believe that France is slightly more experienced with war than the United States, they can see this was is a waste of time and that nothing beneficial will come of it. We shouldn't be belittling the French or the Germans, because in my eyes they seem to understand the consequences of war much more than we as Americans do. You may argue that the French have been nothing but trouble for us since the second part of the Thirty years war. After all we did liberate France from Nazi Germany, we saved them as it may be. And then the French kind of left us high and dry in Vietnam. Basically I hope that the American population starts to pull their heads from the sand, or any other place where it seems that they have their heads lodged. We are only forming more enemies, is that really what we need? |
