Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was created over 1,000 years ago, by four wizards and witches; Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. Each of these wizards wanted to encourage the learning of magic with other unknown wizard and witch children around the world. In building the school, four school Houses were also created, one for each wizard. Each founder created their own house, where they hand picked their students according to special talents. Godric Gryffindor choose brave students, while Helga Hufflepuff choose loyal ones. Rowena Ravenclaw prized intelect, and Salazar Slytherin rewarded cunning minds. As the years past Godric realized that the founder would someday not be around to choose the students houses, so he created the Sorting Hat.

The Forbidden Forest, which is right next to Hogwarts, is inhabited by many, many strange creatures, including Hagrid, who lives next to it!Centaurs are known to live within the deeper edges of the Forest. Aragog and other giant spiders are also known to live here as well. Arthur Weasley's bewitched Muggle car has also inhabited the Forest. Unicorns are yet another mystic animal to dwell in these areas. |

There are other strange things about Hogwarts such as in the lake, which lies before Hogwarts. In it there lies a large squid-like creature swimming around. Male and female mermaids also dwell beneath the water.Certain staircases might lead to another area every Friday, and Elves are the school cooks in the hidden kitchen. |

There are hundreds of classes to choose from including Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination, Herbology, History of Magic, Muggle Studies, Potions, andTransfiguration |

In the year, 2000 A.D., Hogwarts hosted the hundreth Triwizard Tournament. The Triwizard Tournament was stopped after too many deaths, but has been recently started up again.Yule Balls are held for fourth years and older on years the Triwizard Tournament is hosted. |
