Once upon a time, in a town not so far away, there lived many nonpunks people. One autumn day in the year 1998, 4 bold men of this town stood up to the commons folk and created a punk band in Billy Well's garage. This band, named Famine, consisted of natives Mark Burlingame on lead guitar, Billy Wells on vocals, Dameon Covert playing bass, and Gus Johnson on the drums. After many conflicts with the townsfolk, a few practices in the garage, Billy was let go from the band because the other members were dickheads at the time, many of whom still are. After that tragic incident of this group struggling against all odds, the trio decided to play for the school's Open Mic Night. They schemed a performance that would consist of the song "Josie" by Blink 182. Father Dameon attempted a shot at singing the song, but he sucked so they were temporarily screwed. But the night before the final showdown, God smiled upon this group bringing a knight, in not-so-shiny armor, named Jason Burt to sing. A few days before the performance, the band had no option but to bring in drummer Bill Null because, much to our surprise, Gus couldn't keep a good beat for the song, although he's a hell of a lot better now. Despite all the struggling this band went through to defeat the odds, they still sucked ass at "Josie". Thus, in mid-February of the year 1999, the band performed "Dammit" at the concert in the school auditorium instead of "Josie" and received some mediocre reactions from the audience. After a short 11 months of break, the band rejoined forces to practice for another fierce Open Mic Night but was left short of a drummer because Gus left the group of his own will, not the first or the last time this occurred. After some hard searching, they found Mike Neely, eating donuts at the corner of Water and Mechanic streets, to play the drums. After long days of scheming to play "What's My Age Again," the band had an epiphany to play "All the Small Things" by Blink 182, because they sorta sucked. After a few missed practices, because of an overwhelming drug addiction and allergic reactions to school, Mark was let go, and the band recovered by obtaining Nick Freer for lead guitar from a band named Prototype. To further their talent, Father Dameon brought in Greg Pierotti to sing lead vocals for the night, because he felt sorry for beating him up in 7th grade so much. This no name band performed at the Open Mic Night of February of the year 2000 and was very well received. After this well-liked performance at Open Mic Night, the band stumbled upon the name Frazzle. Frazzle shined, playing a few shows that got them many marvelous reactions as well as a few not-so-marvelous ones. Frazzle held strong for about a year before Jason, Father Dameon, and Greg mutinied against the alleged tyranny of Nick and Mike, who wanted to turn to the evil ways of playing hardcore. Early in September of the year 2000, Greg met Dwayne Edgar, a new student at Smethport High School. Dwayne mentioned that he played the drums and wanted to start a band. Greg introduced him to Jason and later Dameon. None of the members really acted like they wanted to form a new band, except for Dwayne who played guitar with former band member Gus Johnson. In December, Greg finally saw Dwayne play the drums and was amazed!!! In January, Jason and Dameon finally saw Dwayne, and the group had reestablished their confidence to form a band again and possibly play at the schools Open Mic Night. The new band brought in Gus Johnson to play drums and Dwayne to play guitar, which he was also accomplished at. After a couple practices, Gus backed out of the band for the last time since he didnt want to play at the schools Open Mic Night. Angered, the band opted to leave Gus out of the band and replace him with Dwayne on the drums, leaving the band with only one guitarist again. Some conflicts aroused, when former band member Mike Neely attacked his band members, forcing them to play as Frazzle for one last time at this Open Mic Night or risk failing their senior project of performing new songs as Frazzle, which they never had to do. The band decided to perform as Frazzle for the next to last time, the last serious attempt that is, at this Open Mic Night. Frazzle played Song 2 by Blurr and went right into the next song, Pedestrian by Grinspoon. The band seemed very energetic and almost unbeatable compared to the other acts for the night. But the new band had a few more practices under their belt. They played the greatest performance ever at any Open Mic Night in February. The song Bran Nude, Ban Dad was a hit with a stellar performance by singer Greg Pierotti and guest star Al Gore, actually Jim OConnell, energetically running through the crowd and on stage. Plus, there were the magnificent antics of Father Dameon and Jason Burt, not to mention the excellent playing of Dwayne Edgar. After the wonderful concert the band decided to play at the schools Dessert Theatre and wanted to play a few more concerts before the end of the year, because Dwayne was moving back to Michigan then. One day, before going to practice, Father Dameon, Jason, and Greg decided to go to the Hub for some food. After getting food, Jason and Greg reached the car first. Greg got in the car and locked Father Dameon out of his own car. Father Dameon was really perturbed and said, Damn it, Greg, we are wasting time. We need to practice." Greg shouted, Brilliance!!! Dameon, youre a Genius! thinking that the name Wasting Time would be a great name for the band. The band practiced a few more times before Greg opted to leave the band for personal reasons. Wasting Time then played The European Song, singing the chorus in French due to Mrs. McGraws request during her Pre-concert Bitch Mode, and No More at Dessert Theatre. Because of numerous reasons (to name a fewDameons non-sobriety, Gregs blinded act as Al Gore, and Jasons guitar strap breaking), Wasting Time gave the crowd the worst performance that they had ever seen in their lives. After this disaster the band had a couple more dispirited and unorganized practices before Dwayne decided to draw a big Anarchy sign in the schools band room. Thus, Dwayne was not allowed to use the schools drum set anymore. To add to this, all the performances planned for Wasting Time were cancelled or moved back to a date past the time Dwayne was to move back to Michigan. The original Wasting Time disbanded on May 15 (beware the Ides of May) of the year 2001, and Dwayne ended up going back to play with his old band Strict 9 Lollypop and supposedly got some shows with Anti-Flag. The other members decided to go their own ways considering all 3 of them were going to college in the fall of that year. During the summer of the year 2001, Father Dameon, Greg, and Jason went to the Warped Tour. There, some men were handing out a clipboard where people waiting in line could sign up any local band that they knew of. Greg took the clipboard and was thinking about adding a number of local bands, such as Fat Tony, Project Reconnect, etc., but all the bands he thought of were already written down. So to stop from looking stupid, the band decided to write down Wasting Time. That was the first time that the idea of Wasting Time getting back together really dawned upon the group. Later in that summer, the band hung out and went to many local shows and really considered getting back together. They had already found a replacement drummer, Mike Zickefoose, although there was never much talk about practice or the band. Father Dameon, Greg, and Jason all went off to separate colleges in late August. There, through the so-called conveniences of ICQ, Jason had "successfully" built up enough thoughts of creative differences to pretty much turn Greg and Dameon against him, although he was always willing to compromise. Over Christmas break, Father Dameon, sticking to his usual Wasting Time practice mood, had no intentions of truly practicing since Mike just got his drum set and wasn't really ready for a full all out practice. One of the potential plans was to have Jason on lead guitar, and maybe some vocals, Greg on bass, Mike on drums, and Dameon singing, and possibly a second guitar. The more the year went on it looked more like Dameon would have to play bass again and have Greg do some vocals, or perhaps no Dameon at all later on. During Christmas break, the band half-assed promised Bradford natives Exit 23 that they would open for them on a New Year's Eve Show. Jason was confident the band could pull together by then, but Father Dameon was not confident at all so he said Wasting Time would open as a last resort if Exit 23 couldn't find anyone else to open for them. To Father Dameon's delight, and Jasons agony, Exit 23 did find two bands that were willing to open for them. The band attended that show, which probably spurred their interest to play more, although they never did practice. Father Dameon, Greg, and Jason went back off to college. Thus, again through the "conveniences" of ICQ, Jason spurred enough of an idea of creative differences in Father Dameon to make him crack. First, he was talking about joining Exit 23, and Wasting Time would just be dormant if need be for the summer. Then, he had a bright idea to start a new "kick-total-ass" McKean County band along with joining Exit 23. Then, he thought, why not make Wasting Time that new "kick-total-ass" McKean County band. Wasting Time had had a second website put up at www.geocities.com/watchingtheclocktick/, and Father Dameon dictatorishly decided it needed a makeover. So his last update was that Jason was kicked out of the band, and the band was going to have guitar auditions. Greg was still going to be in the band, and Mike might still have been in the band. Jason, feeling that Father Dameon stabbed him in the back, vowed never to join a band with Father Dameon ever again. After Dameon got into Exit 23 in April of the year 2002, he deviously dissolved Wasting Time. Now, Dameon is totally committed to Exit 23, who now own up to the name Running Scared. Mike Zickefoose had already started another band in January or February of the year 2002. His band played at Open Mic Night at the school and covered "Adam's Song" by Blink 182 that stunk of "rip-off" of both Frazzle and Wasting Time. His band has been through quite a few line-up changes already. The current line-up of the band goes by the name of A Cry in the Night. Greg is currently band-less. As for Jason, he started this band, Different Situations, that consists of himself and Holly Dougherty from Bradford, whom he met over ICQ after she requested his authorization after he started visiting the Exit 23 message board after the show the band went to over Christmas break. Jason decided to have Holly join his new band after she sent him a long poem that reminded him of something like an AFI song. She told him she could sing and perhaps play bass. So if all goes according to plan, Holly will sing, write, and play bass for this new band. Jason plans on doing all of those as well, except change the word bass with guitar, and then everything'll be Punkley Dunkley, Neighbor. Dwayne Edgar recently moved back to the area and once agreed to take up force with this new band. Working hard at a new guild (work) and lack of strength in his weapon of choice, the drums, Dwayne has as of yet declined to rejoin forces with this powerful ensemble. The band recently joined forces once again with Al Gore, who has become a little rusty at his trade. And in the summer of the year 2003, Mike Zickefoose and his bassist Casey Roberts for their nameless group at the time suffered a blow as their guitarist Seth Queen was to be missing for a show they signed on to play, Ted-Fest. Ted-Fest smirked an evil grin towards them, until Jason stepped in to help ward off this beast. With Jason on guitar, the band could play the show. But as time grew near, practices were scarce along with time to learn Mike's band's songs. But never fear, for Different Situations is here. Jason equipped Mike and Casey with songs from Different Situations. And the band headed into Ted-Fest as Different Situations. This semi-debut proved to be a little weak, but never-the-less, the band held out. It was after this incident that Casey and Mike both made oaths to side project for Jason. So Mike will lend Different Situations the power of his drums, and Casey will lend the skills of his bass. And more recently, after reading of the band's lacking of a second guitarist on the band's site, Kyle Baker, a friend of Holly's, asked to join the group, adding the power of his guitar. Then once again, before embarking the Swedish Festival, Different Situations's technical debut, in August of the year 2004, the band made a few line-up switches to gather the needed strength to conquer the crowd. Holly, Jason, and Mike stayed at their respective positions, but Kyle took up the bass while Casey played the guitar. The switch was a decent success despite lack of crowd members due to the lateness of which the battle extended. Well, that basically sums up our tale of the band history for now. Until next time, ta ta...
