Here is everything I could find on the subject. I don't know if this is what you were looking for or not, but either way I hope this will help. Kristen and I are both tattooed ourselves, Kristen more than I, but fortunately our church is very accepting of such things. I love our church because it's all about reaching to the lost.
Like I said, this is all I could find. And I'm really not sure how relevant a lot of the information is. I'll let you make up your own mind. My personal opinion is that they can be okay, if there isn't a ritualistic purpose behind them. Ritualistic being like you may see on TV about tribal peoples who mark themselves in worship to their gods and stuff like that. A tattoo is only skin deep, and with the sterilization practices in use today, poisoning(or the risk thereof) of the body isn't a good argument. Now, the question you have to ask yourself is, "Would this detract from my testimony?" This would help more in the selection of a tattoo more than in the decision whether to get one or not. I'd like to get more ink done, but it's a question of money rather that a question of morality to me.
Like I said earlier, I'm giving you all the information I could find on the subject and I'll let you make up your own mind. When you're reading through the Revelations verses, keep in mind that this all came about from a vision, so a mark isn't necessarily a tattoo--especially when you consider the technology we have today. A mark could be any of a number of things from implanted micro chips (yes, we do have the technology) to a mere identification card. We just don't exactly know because those things aren't happening yet. I've heard some people say that they will be literal marks, but I really can't agree with that. I seriously can't see billions of people lining up to get tattooed, when it is so offensive to so many people.
I've done enough spouting. I really hope this helps. I'd encourage you to share this with your pastors because he/she should really know what's going on with you. I think it's kind of petty stuff that's grounded in legalism and 2 Corinthians 3:6 says that the law kills, but the Holy Spirit that we received when we accepted Christ gives life. So nothing we can do will make us or keep us from going to heaven, but that's not a license to sin, either.
TATTOO Pagan custom; forbidden (Lev. 19:28) see Mark.
MARK A word with various meanings: a special sign of ownership (Eze 9:4,6; Rev 7:2-8), signature (Job 31:35), a target (1 Sa 20:20), a form of tattooing banned by the Lord (Lev 19:28), a goal to be attained (Php 3:14), a particular brand denoting the nature or rank of men (Rev 13:16).
