After careful consideration, I figured out that I couldn't write anything better than what is below. I've loved this writing for a long time because of its simplicity, and now I want to pass it along to you!!
The Romans road is an old road; construction on it began about six thousand years ago. About two thousand years ago it was completed. Yes, the Romans road is an old road, and it's a famous one, too. Since construction on this road began, people from all walks of life have been traveling it. No, not everyone has travelled the whole length of it. Some of those who began the trip died along the way(accidents, war, suicide, illnesses, etc.), others were enticed to use another road, and still others didn't care about the trip. However, there have been a few who went all the way, and were so glad they did. Perhaps you haven't realized it, but you are on the Romans road this very moment. You say you've never heard of this famous road!? Well then, please allow me to lead you down it.
The Romans road may be found in the book of Romans, which is the sixth book of the New Testament in God's Holy Word, the Bible. At the beginning of the Romans road, chapter three, verse ten we read that, "As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God." This is the natural state of man: lost and not seeking after God.
Further down the road, we find the reason for this. It is found in 3:23: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." How is it that "all have sinned"? It all happened in the garden of Eden where Adam, as the father of the human race, sinned against God: "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world(the realm of humanity), and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned."(5:12) The whole human race has, since that time, been guilty of sin with Adam. Because God is just and holy, sin must be dealt with; thus we receive our just punishment in 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death."
The Romans road does not end here; there is hope ahead! In spite of the fact that we are guilty of sin, we find that, "God commands his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."(5:8) As we continue our journey down the Romans road we read in 10:9-11: "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture says, 'Whosoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed.'"
At the end of the Romans road, we have one final verse. It reads, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."(10:13)
My friend, you are going down the Romans road, a road which every person must begin, but not all finish. They must begin because of their sin; they do not finish because they refuse to humble themselves and call upon Jesus Christ for salvation.
You are now on the Romans road. Will you remain in your sinful state and be under the condemnation of God(John 3:18,36), or will you confess to God the Father that you are a sinner, repent and ask for forgiveness of those sins, and for Jesus Christ to come into your heart? According to Romans 3:25 and 5:9, Jesus Christ has already paid the penalty for our sin; all we need to do is confess our sin to Him(1 John 1:9) and receive His gift of eternal life/salvation(Ephesians 2:8). If you will do this, according to God's Word you will be saved for all eternity(John 3:16;1 John 5:11-13).
Dear one, right now, where you are, will you allow Jesus Christ to lift you from the pit of sin? Will you take your burdens to the Cross of Calvary and leave them there? Won't you receive Jesus Christ as your personal savior today? I plead with you to do so.
If you want to make this decision today, and I plead with you not to hesitate, please read this aloud:
God, I confess that I am a sinner and have no hope without you. Please forgive me of my sins, and help me to make Jesus Christ lord of my life. I know that I can do nothing outside of accepting Jesus to receive salvation, and praise be to you God for providing a way out!! Thank you, Lord. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
