Why is God who is supposed to be this omnipotent all know being so hung up on petty shit like masturbation and eating apples and shit? How can he be a jealous god? Shouldn't he be a little bit above that?

God is not only omnipotent and omniscient, He's also omnipresent. So why is He hung up on these things? Although probably not as bad as you're thinking, He's hung up on them because He knows more than we do. He has His reasons, and why do you question someone that has the power to strike you dead in an instant?

I think that for me to just say that would draw a very inaccurate picture of who God really is. God, speaking through the prophet Ezekial said, "Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?" Now righteousness (God) can not mix with wickedness (mankind in his natural state). It is written, "there is none that doeth good, no, not one." That means everyone. It's like oil and water. You stick the two of them in a glass and stir them all you want, and you're still going to end up with a layer of oil and a layer of water. Fortunately, God has already provided a way to wipe away our wickedness, and that way is through faith in Jesus Christ.

So why is God jealous? Why shouldn't he be? There is only one being in all of eternity deserving of worship, and that being is God alone. Even though we are so completely undeserving, God sent Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for our wickedness. There's a saying, "Love hurts." God has provided a way for us to reach Him because He loves us so much that He longs for our affection. So when we don't give it to Him, He feels hurt. That is what the Bible means when it says that God is jealous. It means that God feels heart-broken when He's rejected.
