This was orignally my posting at The Warp's discussion forum regarding Zykhee and Neo-Soviet abilites to handle union firepower.
OK so my experience with Zykhee vs. Union is that Zykhee blow big holes in the Union. The Zykhee are SO effective that I now DOUBLE the cost of all ranged tips just to compensate. So what is the secret? Divaak warriors with Pod launchers in conjunction with Scouts. Deploy the Scouts in hard cover with LOS to the Union boys (and with Kala blades, the ultimate AM:-3 harassment weapon), and just rain death on them from your Pods nestled behind some bushes. Union got an Ares? Great, just the thing for those Ka'char warrors with the Lightning tips and Speed Tattoos. Yep, Lightning tips ignore armour AND get +3 o hit heavly armoured targets. Union getting too close, and can shoot? Good thing for those Illusion tattoos, good against anything but template weapons, once per model per game. Honestly, the THOUGHT of an Ares shooting at my tall skinny guys just scares the whiskers off me, so I ALWAYS keep some Lightning tips in a force over 500 points. They pop everyone else just as easily. Now, the Ra'gha warriors I find to be less useful. They got to slog it allthe way across the table in the face of enemy fire to do their thing, and I've gotten them there only once. They were EVIL once in CC, but it only happened ONCE. Forget the Mystic entirely; I have had no luck making them work at all and they always die... so sad! The points are better spent on more Scouts to spot for your Pods and throw Kala blades at the enemy.The Downside to all this wonderful Zykhee synergy is that it became so effective for me, it got boring to play. I now have no more than 1 Pod per squad, fewer Kala blades, and more Lasers, all at increased points cost. And they STILL kicked the stuffing out of the Space Marines (using Darren's download list from The Warp) that they fought. More postings will follow as I find out more.
