| I love By Jen*E Mom, why do we have to go all the way to California, just to see that man anyway? Its not like he ever cared about us! Jezebel, I know youre angry with him but hes your father and hes going to die soon, so he would like to see you! Why, he doesnt even know me, I dont know him, what could he possibly want? Look hes not going to apologize to me and Im not going to give in to him and his I love yous. Then the man is going to die and Im not going to miss him! Okay dear you dont have to get along with him but please, please show the man some respect hes your father and hes going to die. Why do you keep saying that? I know hes going to die. But I dont know why, I dont even know the mans name. All I know is Im going to see some stranger whos going to say a bunch of I love yous and Im sorrys. But he deserted us so just so you know Im not going to say I love you too, or I forgive you. But why honey hes your father he misses you. You two will get along just fine. You miss him dont you? You want to get back together with him. You want to be in love again like you were when you first got married and all you needed was each other. Well I got news for you, hes going to die! Jezebel, I dont want to ever here you speak to me like that ever again. You have no right assuming things like that. And dont go around saying he might die there is a chance he might live. Excuse me miss how long before we land in California? Jezebel asked a studarist to escape her mother's anger. In approxemently thirty minuets, and thank you for flying American Airlines. Why does my mother have to be so controlling, short-tempered and have no understanding of life? I wonder where she got the idea that I missed her father. Do you think she could have heard me the night of the accident? No she was sleeping. But why cant she realize he made some mistakes and now he wants to fix them. Both girls were deep in thought about each other and the next couple of nights in California, how tiring it will be and if they fight the whole time. They both new it would be a hard week. By they time they landed both of them had cooled down. Jezebel, honey, Im sorry, well its just Im worried and tense. Will you get our stuff while I call a cab? The two girls climbed into a dirty cab of Los Angeles, Jez thought for awhile, I guess she was tiring to think of the right words to say when she finally came out with it didnt come out to well Your not sorry, I know your not you just dont want to put up with the fighting, ya know I dont either but you dont say sorry unless you mean it. Why Jezebel, why are you being so hateful? Look dont you understand he deserted us, he left you to raise me by yourself! That man is evil he cant be sorry he has to want something. Your father is a good man, even though he has made some mistakes. He just wants to see his baby one more time. Im not a baby and definitely not his, why cant you understand this man left he cheated on you, he wants nothing to do with you or me! How would you know, why do you keep saying horrible things? He had to leave, he never cheated on me, and, and, and we just werent getting along. You werent getting along because he was cheating on you! No! screamed April, Jezebels mother. The girls fought almost half the night until Jez couldnt hold it in any longer. Mom look we have thin walls, I heard you the night of the accident. I know whats happened from the time you got married till now. What you were spying on me and then you lied about it. You said you didnt know why he was going to die. You said you didnt even know his name. If you listened all night like you said you would know everything! I heard you cring; I had to know why so I listened to you. What did you want me to do ignore every thing that was going on or come running in Oh mother Im so sorry that wonderful man that left us penniless and was drunk half the time is going to die! Is that what you wanted me to say? Well I wasnt going to and I still wont! The two screamed at each other nearly half the night, until the cell phone started ringing. The girls stopped and starred at it as if were something they never saw or even heard of before when finally April answered. Hello. Hello, is this Mrs. Longcar? Yes, yes it is can I help you? Um, Mrs. Longcar this is Dr. Shwartz Im calling concerning your husband. My ex-husband, but what about him? Well I dont know how to put this gently, but hes going pretty fast and would like to see you and your daughter right away is this possible? Yes, yes, her voice was soft and quiet; yes well be there soon as possible! she hung up the phone and was in a blank stare for a minute, until she realized what was going on. Come on Jez its your father, That man. Interrupted Jez. Your father, April corrected, is going fast we have to go see him now! Yeah, yeah whatever maybe after this movie. Right now young lady they dont know when hes going to you know die. Hes good at that, I mean they dont know when hes going to you know croak and then you didnt know when he was going to you know leave. April grabbed Jezs arm Lets go Missy and I dont want to here another word. They went out and got a cab and were on their way to the hospital when April started to cry. Mom, are you okay, I know you loved him and I guess its a sad thing if you knew the guy but my problem is I dont know the guy so Im angry with him. I understand Jez but thats not the main reason Im crying its you this whole trip youve been so hateful and I was hoping this trip would bring us closer I was even thinking about taking you to a theme park or something. But I guess you dont want to be with me so I guess well leave early. Mom its not you its the way your sticking up for dad you wont let me have my own opinion about him who knows we could have been real close but I never new the man. I guess youre right I never gave you a chance can you ever find it in your heart to forgive me? I guess I could but now lets go see dad. April went into see him first while Jez waited out in the hall. It was only five minutes but to Jezebel it seemed like an eternity for she was in such deep thought she didnt even see her mom come out. He wants to see you know. Good luck. Jez slowly walked into the room up to his bed there he took her hand held it for a minute then said, Jezebel, I love Sadly that sentence was never finished because he died that very second. The girls were heart broken even Jezebel. Until a nurse came out and handed an envelope that said give to Jezebel Longcar my little girl. Jezebel hesitating opened and read it. It said: Dear Jezebel please for give me Ive been a horrible father and if I were I dont think I could forgive me either but at least I tried to say sorry but I want you to have the few things in this envelope if you do me one thing, make sure Im buried with a picture of you. She pulled out three things a gold heart necklace, a check to Jezebel Longcar for two thousand dollars, and the most precious thing Jez has ever owned a picture of her, her mother, and her father. |
