Anarka and Poppy formed in 1982 in Preston, Lancashire emerging from the local squat scene in Preston. Anarka and Poppy were brought together after a previous band Jane and Sean were in called Nihilist Insurrection had split up.
Anarka and Poppy were comprised of mainly animal rights activists and Anarchists. Animal rights and Anarchism being the subject matter that our songs were solely concerned with. As well as the band, most of us were involved in protests and direct action of varying natures. We saw a few different cells and courts during Anarka and Poppy`s existance. We also produced an abundance of fanzines and leaflets, and in correspondence with people from all over the planet from Poland to America.
Anarka and Poppy played all over the north, Manchester, Liverpool, Blackpool, St. Helens, Wigan, Doncaster,Leeds...mainly benefit gigs for one cause or another.

Anarka and Poppy: DISCOGRAPHY
Recorded a five track demo tape at Twilght studios in Manchester which were : Nightmare/ If it dies we die/ Blind Acceptance/ Leader of the Pack/ P.o.p.p.i.e.s.[Prisoners of pain and power in every state]. We also recorded a three track single for 'All the Madmen' records in London, but it never made it to vinyl.
Throughout the few years we existed we gigged with the likes of: The Subhumans, Disorder, Chumbawumba, Kama Sutra, Abbreaction, Electro Hippies, Reality Control, Mass of Black, Membraines, Here and now, Pandoras box, Wartoys...
Starting as just vocals, guitar and drums, the band developed over the years until finally going their seperate ways late in 1984.
