STR
Bio. - April 2001 STR began in September of 1998 with members Nathan
Humphris (vocals/guitar), Josh Mann (guitar/vocals), Jethro Robinson
(bass) and Craig Beames (drums). Craig left the band in early 2001
to pursue other interests, and Joel Bourne (of No Questions Asked)
took the reigns.
Their
music ranges between flat-out punk, to rock, to pop, and they have
been described as a cross between bands like; Saves The Day, No
Motiv, Good Riddance and Strung Out.
Lyrically,
the band address fairly varied topics. Their set will often include
both personal pop "ditties", aswel as songs discussing such issues
as the new age movement, sweatshop labour in Nike factories, domestic
violence, political correctness, and many more. These topics are
always addressed from an optimistic perspective, and the band feel
that their music is a good medium to initiate positive thinking
and change.
In
February 2000, the band embarked on their first overseas tour and
visited New Zealand with Sydney hardcore band 'Ceasefire'. They
performed at the Parachute festival and at all the main, North island
cities. They were well recieved and will hopefully return for a
follow-up tour, late 2001.
