Nine - Lights Out

Swedish hardcore...you can't really go wrong can you? From the Burning Heart label, Nine deliver an album filled with raging guitar melodies and roaring vocals. It's co-produced by Millencolin's Mathais Farm and Nasum/Kringshot member Mieszko Talarchyk. They also both step up to help out with a few of the backing vocals on a couple of songs.

Lights Out is 10 songs fueled by burning rage. The lyrics are very much a strong point on this album. Every word is sung with purpose and meaning. "It's about time to open your eyes and see where you have gone. A grey mind, a grey world. Conquer it and you could be the one." Nine pound out rabid hardcore tunes and I can picture their live show listening to this, it's be fucking awesome. Anaemic finds itself caught up in a whirlwind of thrashing guitar chords as frontman Johan goes crazy with the words, "I wanna go back." Nine can also mix it up within each song. Carnage (the songs that appears on the recent Cheap Shots compilation) features with a soft guitar melody in the intro and a smooth bass line in the versus. Shit like this will keep you interested, so it's not all the same pulsating guitar chords every second of each song. Standouts tracks are the opener I, No Heroes and ...The Wolves Want More. Lights Out is definately one for hardcore fans. Two thumbs up! (Matthew Matanovic)
