Matt: Below Par Records, when did you set up?

Jai: We set up in the end of October, and have been a registered business since November.

Matt: What do you eventually hope to achieve with Below Par Record?

Jai: Well our initial goal was to just release our mates bands music,but then we thought hey why not make a go at this.We basically want to give underrated bands a chance to get there music out to the people.

Matt: Who makes up the record company?

Jai: Its me(Jai),Mark Catanzariti and Steven Chalker.We are all partners in it,we are also going to employ another person Shaun Bowling after Xmas.

Matt: I hear you are going to be releasing a compilation disc early next year, judging by your artwork it looks to be very serious (I like the first cover the best)

Jai: I guess it is going to be a serious compilation.Yeah we like the first one aswell,Brent from Us vs Them designed it for us,well actually he designed it for New School Hero's EP but they rejected it so we picked it up.

Matt: What bands do you have lined up for it?

Jai: We have 24 bands from all over the world like USA,Belgium,Canada,Israel,Spain and of coarse home(Australia).The biggest bands we have on it are Lucky 7,Agent Felix,Kid with man head and Useless ID(BIG MAYBE BECAUSE KUNG FU BOUGHT THERE SONGS),all the bands are rad but were only putting on music that we like and its all gooooood.

Matt: How many slots do you have left to fill for the compilation?

Jai: 0,were all booked out.But we will be releasing another one next year so stay coool.

Matt: Will the compilation be released Australia wide?

Jai: Well we know we can get distro in NSW, Victoria and QLD, but we have no connections in other states. Anybody who could help us out get in contact.

Matt: After the compilation what does Below Par Records plan to do? (I assume you will say start to sign bands among other things)

Jai: Well after its released we are going to have a launch gig on a sydney harbour cruise which will be cool.We are also getting a heap of T-Shirts and we have a very important project coming up sometime around March, but we cant say to much yet.

Matt: Any bands lined up yet, I hear Strung Out are looking for a new label?

Jai: hahahahahaha i dont really think we could offer strung out much,i guess they could stay at my joint when they come to Aus.We have a USA band that we might be doing distro for in Australia,who are the coolest band aronud.

Matt: What type of bands are you looking for?

Jai: Basically anything that has instruments and musicians that are in the business for the music not the financial benfits.Thats why we love punk because its all about the music and the good times,also Chalker is a grunge man he loves the seattle sound he has posters of kurt cobain hanging in his room.

Matt: Where should bands send stuffin hope of getting on the label?
