Operation Ivy, more like Operation Sweetest Band Ever! THey are a ska-punk band from Berkeley Cal. Probably one of the most influential punk bands of the 80's and 90's. The band formed in 1987. It consisted of four members- Jesse, Lint, Matt, and Dave. Lint (who's real name is Tim Armstrong) is now vocals in Rancid and the transplants, two bands that i defiently could live without, yet i know a lot of people that like them. I personally think Tim Armstrong sold out after forming these two other bands. Almost all of them are still in some other band at the moment. Jesses in common rider, Tims in Rancid & the Transplants. Matts also in Rancid, him and Tim have been friends since childhood. Dve is now in the bands The Ho and Jewdriver. Operation Ivy only released a 7" and an LP during their two years together, but many other cd's have been put together using songs from their live shows. Their best cd in my opinion is their ...self titled. It has 27 songs from the
Hectic EP and Turn It Aroundcompilation 7". Operation Ivy's songs were about unity, having fun, being yourself...and so on. They were probably one of the most influential bands i know of, they helped make the scene what it is today.
