| Only Crime's "only crime" is being way to cool for school. They are a new band that was just signed to Fat Wreck Chords (July 13, 2004). Only Crime's singer, Russ Rankin, is also the singer for Good Riddance, and the drummer, Bill Stevenson is in Black Flag, The Descendants and ALL. The two bring qualities from their other bands to Only Crime. For example, the band has Good Riddance vocals, Descendants lyrics, and Black Flags all around general sound. In fact, they sound ALOT like a modern Black Flag. If I had never heard Only Crime and someone were too tell me that the song "To The Nines" was by Black Flag, I would have believed them (with the exception of the vocals). Only Crime has only one album (To The Nines) and they are only on one compilation, Rock Against Bush Volume 2 (Good Band, Good Song, Crappy Album). I could get into the reasons why the Rock Against Bushs are terrible (even though I bought the first one) but thats an issue for a different time. Back to Only Crime. If you've never heard Black Flag or Good Riddance, then you would have no idea how these guys sound. They have a hard sound with equally hard vocals, and the drumming is amazing (Bill's had alot of practice). If I had to explain it further, I would say they sound like a mixture between Rise Against and None More Black. These guys may be new but with talent like this, they're gunna go far. | ||||||||||||||
