In LA, in the late 1970's and 80's, punkrock changed. It was louder, harder, meaner, it was called hard-core-punk. The hardcore punk scene was led by these few groups: The Germs, TSOL, Black Flag, The Adolescents, Fear and The Circle Jerks. It all basically started with the band Black Flag. In 1980, Black Flag frontman Keith Morris quit the band to form Circle Jerks. They don't really sound the same, but they both play fast punkrock, I think circle jerk's lyrics are a bit more humorous than Black Flag's though, but they're still smart. They're newer stuff is kinda slower...it's still fast, but you can definatly tell it's slower, not that there's anything wrong with that, cause circle jerks still kick fuckin ass. I know they're still playing shows, and they came to Canada awhile ago. Not around here of course. They're newest album ( february 2004)  is right on the border between punk and metal.I think there best stuff was wrote in the late 90's though like Wild In the Streets, Group Sex is another amazing album.
