What's the Plot: A look at the early years of boxer "Irish" Micky Ward and his brother who helped train him before going pro in the mid '80s.
What's the Deal: Aronofsky just releases The Wrestler, a sad portrayal of a washed up professional wrestler that may win Mickey Rourke an Oscar. It is one of the top films of this year and if The Fighter is anything like that effort, and I'm pretty sure it will be, then we are in for another great and unique film experience.
When to Expect It: July 10th
Who's Directing It: Martin Scorsese
Who's In It: Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Emily Mortimer, Michelle Williams
What's the Plot: Drama is set in 1954, U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels is investigating the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the criminally insane and is presumed to be hiding on the remote Shutter Island.
What's the Deal: I would see anything helmed by one of the greatest directors ever to make movies: Martin Scorsese. Fresh off of finally winning his long-awaited Oscar for The Departed is back with this thriller that has an excellent cast and the probability to be another fantastic addition to Scorsese's film library.
When to Expect It: October 2nd
Who's Directing It: Michael Mann
Who's In It: Christian Bale, Johnny Depp, Channing Tatum, Leelee Sobieski, Billy Crudup
What's the Plot: The Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s.
What's the Deal: This has the star power, the director and the history to be a new classic in the making. Mann has directed gangster films before, but never with the fantastic team of Depp and Bale. I don't think there's anyone that's not aching to see this.
When to Expect It: July 1st

What's the Plot: In Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as "The Basterds" are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. The Basterds soon cross paths with a French-Jewish teenage girl who runs a movie theater in Paris which is targeted by the soldiers.
What's the Deal: Quentin Tarantino may have a big head, but the bottom line is that he is a great filmmaker and he comes out with something new too rarely. This new feature, which he has had the idea for for a long time, is his most promising one since Pulp Fiction.
When to Expect It: August 28th
Who's Directing It: James Cameron
Who's In It: Sigourney Weaver, Sam Worthington
What's the Plot: A band of humans are pitted in a battle against a distant planet's indigenous population.
What's the Deal: James Cameron has been working on this off and on for years and it is his first feature film since Titanic in 1997. Little is known about this epic battle between the human race and an alien population. But the buzz is unbelievable and Cameron believes that he will put images on the screen unlike anything we've seen before. I can't wait.
When to Expect It: December 18th
