Oi! is a form of punk that started when "the ordinary" punkgroups split up or
went commercial.
Oi! was started by Garry Bushell and were more into the skinhead-scene,it was
also known as Skunk (Skinhead/Punk).
There were four records released in Garry Bushells Oi! series and they featured
bands likethe Exploited,Blitz and other hardcore punk bands as well as some
street poems and weird music such as Attila the stockbroker.>
The first was released in 1980 and was simply called Oi! -the album and featured:
Cockney rejects,Peter & the test tube babies,4-skins,Postmen,Exploited
Terrible twins,Angelic upstarts,Cock sparrer,Max Splodge & desert island Joe
Slaughter and the dogs,Barney and the rubbles.
There's a track by P.T.T.B.called Intensive care on this one,that song is about
what happened to Peter after singing another song called Elvis Presley is dead.
The second one: Strength thru Oi! was just availible for a short period because
the cover contained a picture of a skin kicking towards the camera. (it was
released with a drawn cover instead)
This was just as the media was focusing on the riots that went on in England at
the time(Racial) and of course they said that all skins are nazis and with such
a violent cover,it got banned.(You can see the cover in Oi! the website).
It was released in 1981 and featured:
Garry Johnson,4-skins,The Strike,Infa riot,Criminal class,Toy dolls
Barney Rubble,Cock sparrer,Splodge and The Shaven heads.
The third album released in 1981 was called Carry on Oi! and featured:
Garry Johnson,JJ allstars,The Business,Infa riot,The Partisans,The Ejected
Peter & the test tube babies,Blitz,Last resort,The Gonads,4-skins,Red alert
oi -the comrade,oi -the choir.
The fourth and final album was released in 1982,was called Oi! Oi! that's yer lot
and it's the best one (in my opinion) it featured:
The Business,Arthur and the afters,Five 0,Frankie and the flames,The Opressed
The magnificent gonads,Sub-culture,Attila the stockbroker,Crux,Judge dread
The warriors,Skin graft,Attak,Attila the stockbroker,Black flag,Coming blood.
