Riot squad from Mansfield were originally formed in September '81 with the line up:
Dunk - Vocals, Nello - Guitar, Wayne - Bass, Pommi - Drums
The band's half punk, half skin line up meant that they attracted a following from both groups.
In early '82 they released there debut "Fuck the tories"EP (Round 23) on Rondelet records.
Their second release for Rondelet "Riots in the city"EP (Round 25) was released in the end of '82 and featured a new guitarist called Staz who'd replaced Nello.
By this time the vocalist Dunk had set up Rot Records, but combining band and label proved to be a bit much so he quit the band and was replaced by Lee (former roadie for Riot Squad)
In early '83 they released the "Don't be denied EP" on Rot Records(ASS 1)which became the band's third indie chart hit.
Their second Rot release was "I'm OK,Fuck you"EP (ASS 2) and was described by "Punk lives" magazine as a crossover between One way system and The Exploited.
The single also saw Wayne moving to guitar and bassist Chedd joining the band.
By the time of their last release "There's no solution" (ASS 3) they had acquired a new drummer called Gerry.
By '84 Riot Squad had drifted apart and as a vinyl tribute to the band Dunk collected most of their Rot recordings and issued them as the "No potential threat"LP (ASS 13),which like all of the band's releases has become a highly prized and expensive collectors' item.
