| Bubble Bobble is a demonically cute game in which you play either Bubble or Bobble. There are 100 levels of regular Bubble Bobble and 100 more levels of Super Bubble Bobble. In regular Bubble Bobble, you begin by falling into the level in a bubble (see the gif atta bottom?) with three lives. Every level is a classic Nintendo arcade fashion format where you jump around onto ledges and run across them. The objective is to kill all of the monsters on the screen by capturing them in bubbles and popping them. Monsters that die often leave behind goodies, aka fruits, cakes, martinis, fries, lockets, candy, tiaras, etc. There are certain objects you get that do special things. Books and bombs "explode" all monsters; crosses flood or electricute the monsters; umbrellas skip levels; potions fill the screen with cookies you collect for points. Also, letter bubbles can be collected to spell "EXTEND" for an extra life. Though the game-play is extremely easy, you might need them; each time you are hit, you die. (Note: P1 can hit START + A and let P2 moocha life.) The game is addictive, cute, and entertaining -- definitely up there with Wizards & Warriors. Storyline? Yes, it's got one. Bubble and Bobble are two princes in love with two cute girlfriends before the Bad Guy comes and turns them into dragons. (Bubble's the green one, P1, and Bobble's the blue one, P2.) The Bad Guy traps the girlfriends in bubbles and takes them away, so Bubble and Bobble must endure a long maze to save them. If the players to take too long on individual levels, "HURRY UP!" appears along with a deadly phantom ghostie that goes through walls. In short: bust a move. Oh, and how do you play? One button jumps, one blows buttons. Left and right walk. Up jumps. Start pauses. Go kick some ass. |
