Ok. Well you can't turn on the tv nowadays without hearing something about Iraq, or Afghanistan, or Muslims, terrorists, or Jihad. What bugs me about all these is how America is being portrayed as a Christian nation being attacked by Muslim terrorists. The problem I have with this is (and I really don't care who's toes I step on) is that I don't really believe America is a Christian nation. Sure our president is a professing Christian. And the plurality of America's citizens may even be Christians. But as for our nation as a whole I'm not so sure. We live in a country where almost anything goes. We live in a society where killing our unborn children is protected under the law. Now I know that that is now a part of our society, I'm just saying that it's not a Christian one. We worship nudity and pornography. I don't know how anyone claiming that America is a Christian nation can justify our college campuses. Alcoholism, drug abuse, and premarital sex are definately not Christian morals. Now, let me take a second to reiterate. I'm not here to pass judgement or to start making accusations. That's not my thing. These things are all part of our society and are accepted by the general public. All I'm saying is that that very fact should prove that America is not a Christian nation. Ok, now back to the offensive stuff. One of the most "touchy" subjects in America today is the issue of homosexuality. I hate to tell everyone, but homosexuality IS a sin. I don't know how poeple can claim it isn't. Have they just not read the Bible? If that's the case, let me help some of y'all out. How about Leviticus 18:22: "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." Or if you guys would like a New Testament reference because you think that applies a little bit more, then lets see what Paul has to say about homosexuality in Romans. "In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." Now in our society, homosexuality, quite possible the most disgusting of sins, is not just accepted, but commercialized. COMMERCIALIZED! It's sad that this is probably the part that will offend the most people and put them on the defensive, but look at Will and Grace. That show is nothing but shameful commercialization of a horribly disgusting sin, and everyone who watches it is only supporting the desensitization of this sin to todays society. Children will grow up thinking there is nothing wrong with homosexuality because it's funny on TV. These are just a few of the stigmas on our society that are too strong to be ignored. How can we be called a Christian nation with all of these aspects of our society so arrogantly flaunted? What kind of witness is that sending? Why should we call ourselves a Christian nation when Christ Himself would most likely be embarrassed by the fact that our country claims to live by His teachings? Ok, well that's enough for today.
