| March 15th, 2004 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hey everybody! Man, for only having about three-and-a-half hours sleep last night (in my bed), I sure am feeling chipper. Why's that, you say? Well, I saved my ass again by pulling a 93% on a calculus quiz and I finally got that damn senior paper off my back (can't wait for the grade on that one). No, really, that's all awesome and all, but I'm just coming off one of the coolest weekends I've ever had. Saturday night was the UNLUCKY CHARMS concert at the Community Hall. I think it came together pretty well, and all of us that were involved in setting it up seemed to have had a lot of fun. I was impressed with the Iffychucks, and pretty glad they decided to close with "We're Not Gonna Take It" because, let's face it...Twisted Sister rules! Then Pelvis went on. Considering the only practice we had leading up to this show was all done from about Noon:30 to 4:15 on Saturday and that Ben hadn't slept for, like, 31 hours, I think it came off nicely. We definately rocked, whether or not anyone else was rocked by us. Cause I was. Rocked by us. Totally. Then Mike (The Wish We Could Haves) played. I give Mike a lot of respect and a hell of a lot of credit for going out and doing what he does. I'm definately not a fan of emo by any means, but I dig his stuff. I'm glad he agreed to fill in for one of the vacant bands so we didn't get stuck with just three of us. If you're reading this Mike, thanks. And then St. Mad went on. I'd be a big fat liar if I said I wasn't excited about the direction St. Mad is headed in. I think we're a good group with good ideas and good chemistry that can really go places. I also think we can help bring some more attention to the lagging metal scene around here by throwing more of that in with the punk stuff we do. We managed to throw our first original together about an hour before the concert started, and aside from me taking the chrous a bit too long one time and messing up my part on the end, it went pretty well, as well. There should be some pics and info up on the site soon, because it hasn't been updated in, like, forever. Same with the Pelvis site. Overall, the show was pretty kickass. We made enough money back to cover the building, plus some extra for the bands. The only disappointments of the night were that both the Pipebombs and Mad Gone Mad had to cancel. If anyone thinks there was some shady business going on with that deal, there wasn't. Mad Gone Mad agreed to play before they knew the date of the show, and then Andy had to be in a play. And Danny had to visit family...or something. But the fliers were already made, so, it was out of my hands. If you want to go see MGM, check them out at the Old Leather and Lace on April 10th because they rule. And if you still think I set you up, fuck you! I think I'll end this post here for now, but be sure to check back tomorrow for the thrilling conclusion of the best weekend ever. Peace! - PT Right now, you should be: watching Chapelle's Show, bitch! February 27th, 2004 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hey everybody...I think I'm gonna keep this relatively short because it's actually around 2:00 AM on Saturday, and I'm tired as hell. This concerns a couple revelations I had on the way home from training tonight. The first is that most of my blog posts include either two or three different but consistent parts. One is that I'll say something about the site itself, what modifications are being made, what's changing, what's being updated, etc. The second involves me talking about anything else that's going on both in the Dude Nation and around the globe. The third is usually something more personal. If you don't care about or enjoy this part of the post, I understand. But it helps me get a load off. You have a lot of time to think when you're driving by yourself for a couple hours. This is what's it's usually like for me going to and from training every Friday and/or Sunday. Tonight at training, I locked my keys in the car, but luckily we have OnStar* which can unlock your car for you if give the company a ring. Kato and Squigg waited around an extra fifteen minutes or so after practice until the car was unlocked. Basically, I felt really dumb about it. I was turning this and some other things over in my head on the way home when I thought of something. I'm a fuck-up. Luckily, my life thus far hasn't been defined by an major mess-up, but the small fuck-ups are numerous. I fucked up when I ran out in front of a truck when I was littlle and almost got iced. I fucked up when I pitched this rubber watersnake that busted over my mom's school computer. I fucked up tonight when I locked my keys in my car. I fucked up when I let the most beautiful, energetic girl I've ever met walk by me before the prom with some guy that stood her up later. I fucked up when I sat around doing nothing that night. I fucked up when I smiled back at her and then turned and walked away. Maybe together these equal one giant fuck up I can't recover from... I also played at Open Mic Night tonight with Boop, Witherow, Jay, and Emilee. It was a lot funnier than it was fun, definately, but the pracitces leading up to it were very cool. Any of you KCW fans out there, you'll hear about this soon enough anyway, but we just signed a deal with FOX 8 to have a highlight show run at 1:00 AM on Saturdays. They are a half hour long and will feature interviews and match clips. We're really going places, my friends. I am very, very excited. And you should be , too. Because in just a few days, we get to see if Morgan's gonna do her Playboy spread. Oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please...... - PT Right now, you should be: trying to name that lyric February 24th, 2004 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> What a twisted web of shit we weave.......not as such at the moment, but it's there, waiting to catch me again. Y'know, I tried to write this post a couple days ago, and I had this nice long rant all typed out and ready to go and Geocities decided not to save it. So, assuming that the same thing doesn't happen to this one, I'll give you a little super-condensed taste of the "Lost Post": I HATE RAP!!! There, that's better. I could really go on and on about the District 4 Jazz Festival (which was fun, but musically uneventful for me) or the KCW show on Saturday (which resulted in the loss of my Tag Team Title and a nice welt on my back from falling on a ladder), but I'm just not feeling that tonight. Because who really wants to read about that? Instead, I'll give Becca what she's been waiting for: a nice big shout out. I agree whole-heartedly with your blog post about how we read everyone else's blogs to see if we're mentioned, so here you go. Thanks a lot for letting me (and us) invade your house and eat your food often, and an extra big thanks for the porn. I appreciate it much. Just know that I will always think of you when I see some nakedness. In a good way. Thanks again. Trivia has returned to the site, my friends, but not in the form of the old-school Visipuns that only about 5% of you understood. No, no, I'm taking a page out of Zaq and Beef's books and making this a "Name That Lyric"-esque trivia challenge. You can find a link to the page on the main page of this site. I'm not including links on this page anymore because it messes up the fonts and colors and everything and makes me re-format. The first lyric has already been posted and answered correctly, so expect a brand-new one tomorrow. These things aren't retro-active unless no one answers them within a day. So check back regulary for more goodness. On a fianl note, there's a poll on Playboy.com to see which TechTV gal should pose for an Internet spread. Naturally, I suggest you all go vote for the beautiful Morgan Webb. You can vote by going directly to the main page of the site (just type it into the bar, you lazy bastards). - PT Right now, you should be: playing Mahjongg, the greatest simple computer game ever February 17th, 2004 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hey, everybody! Wow, it's been a whole week since I posted in the Punishblog, but what with District Band and all, I've been pretty busy lately. Keeping busy's cool, right? I mean, that's all I've known for the past year or two. And whoever said senior year's supposed to be a breeze didn't do jack shit, because right now it's runnin' me into the ground. Right now I'm working on my senior paper, Harv-dawg's wave lab, trying to finish writing the script for my senior project, desperately trying to establish some direction with the senior video, keep up with KCW training and shows and what-not, plus every other little thing there is to do. Which brings me around to some cool news. Ths past Saturday (Feb. 14th) Pelvis got to play a set at Chrome Cult Studios in Philipsburgh. It was lots of fun to do, and Mad Gone Mad remains very cool and very talented. As a matter of fact, we made $56 and managed to sell four shirts and get a possible gig in the summer. You can probably find more detailed info on all things PELVIS on the PELVIS site, so check back there. This coming Saturday is another KCW show, and I'm really looking forward to this one. For the uninformed, I'm set to defend the KCW Tag-Team Titles with Big Lenny against X-TREME (Squig and McGrath) and Youth Gone Wild (Xander Graves and Dave Daniels) in a TLC (Tables, Ladders, and Chairs) match. Needless to say, it's going to be insane. Add to that the fact that the guys from PITT have returned to tape the shows (all of them love the product) and you just can't beat the experience. Hey, think of it...you could be on TV. Or on a DVD, at least. For more info on everything, visit www.kcwzone.com. And speaking of PITT, I'm happy to say that I was accepted at main campus, and I'm ready to enroll in their Film Studies course this fall. The city is great, and the campus is nice, and it's still not very far away. Plus it's a great nexus of live music. Rock on, all. See you on the flip side. - PT Right now, you should be: (re)discovering the genius of Maynard James Keenan February 10th, 2004 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hey...do you ever get the feeling the universe has it out for you? Like, no matter what you do, nothing ever works out like it should? Life's one big missed opportunity after another, and there's always time to regret the things that never were. Maybe it's just fate; maybe it's a lack of committment. Maybe I'm just an asshole...I dunno. Does anyone? I've been struggling with a lot of inner issues lately, and maybe I'm just too melodramatic about them because practically everyone else has experienced similar things; however, it still hurts. Doesn't it? Is it wrong to express it? Is it wrong to take a deep interest in someone anymore? Is it wrong to go against norms and try to work things your own way? Because if there's one thing I've learned from all of this, it's that you can't change the person that you are, not without lots of resolve. So am I uncommitted, then? Or maybe I just think I'm right...but am I? Is it too much to hold on to compassion, even in the face of adversity? Is it that stupid to carry a torch, even when there's no end to the darkness? Am I wrong? Oh yeah...34 days till The Undertaker returns. By my calculations, that'll be at WrestleMania XX. I'm there, baby! Better pack the binocs, 'casue we're scraping the ceiling! Later, all. Taker care of yourselves...and each other. - PT "This one goes out to the one I love. This one goes out to the one I left behind." - "The One I Love" REM Right now you should be: creating something beautiful February 7th, 2004 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hey all, we had yet another snow day today, and it was just as boring as the rest of them. I did manage to make a sign for the MY BLOODY VALENTINE show next Saturday, and as far as I know there are already a few of them hanging around. If you're interested in getting one and spreading the love, check the CRACKED PELVIS site where it'll be posted shortly. Speaking of the show, things are starting to come together. Zaq, Chuck and I just spent some time at the (Truck) Stop hashing out a set list, and I think it looks pretty good. Add to that the fact that "Hard Rock Stomp" is nearing completion and "Six Feet (to Salvation)" is also beginning to gel (not for this show), and you've got yourselves one pleased 'Taker. Go PELVIS! On a similar note, Go ST. MAD! We finally got the chance to jam at Witherow's last night, but, of course, it was cut short by shitty weather. On the up side, we all pick up on stuff rather quickly, so there's a lot more time dedicated to polishing than learning. I'm looking more and more forward to the St. Patrick's gig all the time. I also sent an e-mail to the dude over at Chrome Cult the other day about us getting a gig there, and I'll be talking to him on Saturday. There's lots of potential there. In closing, I was checking my e-mail a little while ago when I saw an add for an MSN news story that implied Britney Spears was in the running for the new Bond girl. After reading the article, I discovered that she'd asked for the interview with the producers/directors (whatever) herself. Hey, that's a plus, right? Let's all pray that that never happens. The franchise is already in a downward spiral, and I can't say rumors of Hugh Jackman becoming the next Bond are helping it at all. Not that I don't like Hugh or anything.... - PT "Don't remember where I was, I realized life was a game. The more seriously I took things, the harder the rules became." - "A Tout le Monde" Megadeth Right now, you should be: discovering some inner truths February 3rd, 2004 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Well, it's been another long-ass day of boredom and snow...in case you haven't been keeping track, today was the fourth snow day we've had in two weeks, and the school year's already been extended an extra week. Luckily, it stopped falling a few hours ago, but another front's supposed to hit us later in the week. If this keeps up, I suspect we'll be graduating in July. - "Seasons don't fear the reaper" - If they did, I'd've put a hit out on winter... ST. MAD was supposed to jam tonight, but the snow pretty much put a damper on that. We already have a lot of songs picked out to work on, but since our Battle of the Bands gig this weekend got canned, we now have time to work on it before Emilee's show (which I hear has just been pushed back to March). On the other hand, CRACKED PELVIS is making some progress on the materials for the Valentine's Day show at Chrome Cult. Eyedol Insanity (cool band) just recently broke up - which I'm pretty sorry to hear - so we've been bumped to the second band position. I think the new opening band is called the Shooting Stars, but I'm not really sure. I also think I've been tapped to make a flier for the show, so I'll have to get working on that soon, too. Add that to the list of stuff Ben should've told me but didn't. I hope you're all having fun out there in your own little realms to Dudedom and such. And now that I'm rollin' with Youngy's creative writiing class, I think I'll wax poetic for a moment and hit you with some unfinished verse. Take care. - PT It's a waste of time to save yourself for one who doesn't care It's a waste of life to wait anon for the one who won't be there Right now, you should be: searching for the Guilty Gear XX soundtrack February 2nd, 2004 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Hey all, this is the first post in the newly formed PunishBlog. Now, I've heard my fair share of griping about blogs before, so all I can say is: tough, man. I think this'll end up being a lot easier than trying to do an opening paragraph on the main page all the time. Plus, this way I can keep everything archived. But, if it turns out that you don't really give a damn about the blog...well, I'm gonna keep writing it anyway. So if you're ever interested enough to hear what I have to say about...practically anyhting...stop in here once in a while. In regard to the main page, it'll become more or less a news page and a hub for every other part of the site, as well as a place to put up some various cool stuff that may or may not interest you. It's also where the Guestbook will remain...so go sign it! In closing, I hope you enjoy your stay here at my humble site and will return often. And spread the good word of Taker. And buy me stuff. No, really. - PT RIght now, you should be: watching NEON GENESIS EVANGELION |
