Quatre and Trowa
This is most definitely my favorite pairing. Though not as popular as the Heero and Duo coupling, Quatre and Trowa have a lot of evidence dispersed through out the series ranging from longing looks, warm and fuzzy moments, to beautiful angst. While not quite cannon, if you're looking for yaoi in the series, start with these two. It's actually a very dynamic pairing but people seem to continually assume they're only capable of fluff, sap, and the occaisional PWP. Irksome, to say the least. I don't blame them, though, after all, they get along so well you can't bear to give them an unhappy ending.
Quatre definitely shows some liking towards Trowa, and proved several times to be unafraid of making himself available to the quiet (almost shy) Trowa. I think it's rather likely that he'd make a first move (if so inclined) and that Trowa wouldn't be adverse to it. Likewise, Trowa shows a special affinity for the rich, blonde, bishounen we call Quatre. He shows a complete faith in Quatre, and seems to think he knows him quite well. Given time, I definitely see these two finding even more comfort in each other, and possibly taking the next step.
That's all fine and dandy, but would it work out? Quatre seems to be a very compassionate soul, I don't think that he would be frightened by Trowa's inner pain, and would in fact be eager to do anything he could to heal it. He seems very likeable, and easy to get along with, and doesn't seem bothered by Trowa's frequent bouts with silence. He has a good background, and a large family consisting mostly of women so it's likely he's learned how to communicate well with others, and hasn't grown up with any serious intimacy issues. Trowa also seems to trust Quatre enough to make himself vulnerable to him. And with Quatre, opening up would probably be greatly rewarded, enough to do it often.
But it's not all sunshine and violets for these two. Trowa can't have grown up with no name, no family, fighting all the time in a rough and tumble group of mercenaries to have come out unscathed. Trowa's troubles might be too overwhelming for Quatre and could end up putting a barrier between them. Quatre's family might not approve of the relationship, or, like the young people they are, they might just grow apart. Still, like I said, you just want to see them get married and adopt a gaggle of children.
I can't help but be biased, but I gotta say, if Trowa ends up with anybody, I'd want it to be Quatre. They have an excellent chemistry, too often missed by fic writers. The angst potential is fair, especially when you go into Trowa's past, or Quatre's inhibitions. There's a tendency to idealize Quatre, too, making him somehow impervious to the usual relationship troubles. Heh, anyway... this is clearly too long. In short, long live 4x3! ^_~
