The Nemean Lion
Heracles' first task was to bring the skin of the Nemean Lion to Eurysthes.  The Neamean Lion was a large lion that lived in the hills of Nemea and killed any passing villagers, or, for that matter, anyone they could.  It seemed such an hard task.  Heracles thought a while, then set off for the mountains of Nemea.  He soon found the footprints of the giant cat and followed them.  They lead to a cave.  Heracles entered and hold his sword ready.  The Nemean Lion jumped out at him, but Heracles struck him.  The lion wasn't even surprised.  The sword was no good!  Heracles tried to shoot, but his arrows just crumpled and bent.  So, he just jumped on top of the beast and faught him with hand.  After many hours of fighting, he grabbed its neck and strangled the giant to death.  Heracles took the lion to Eurysthes, and draped it around his shoulders like a cloak.  He did use it as a cloak, and wore it on all of his adventures.
