| And I also realized this was the end. The true end. Yes, we'd tried. We'd tried alright. And we'd given Shredder a good shock. I mean, sixteen-year olds trying to replace their true king? Unheard of! I gave Buttercup a weak smile back. I was still sobbing quietly, though. I didn't really see the point of living without Buttercup. Moonbeam had been quiet all this time, but I could see she felt the exact same as me deep inside. The rooks let us go, for there was no hope of escaping now. Sharpbeak had been watching all that time, carefully. "Well, after that little 'episode', it is my time," he cackled. he raised a gun up, pointing to Buttercup. "Well, here wo go," he smiled evilly. You could see the sheer pleasure in his expression. He had that 'if-I-do-this-Shredder-will-give-me-a-raise-and-I-might-even-get-some-of-the-kingdom' look. I knew what was coming. He slowly pulled the trigger back, just like Buttercup had. At that moment, she strangely reminded me of Jesus on the cross. She had her head up high, her arms by her side and was looking very sad deep inside. I couldn't stop myself from crying, yet again. This time Moonbeam was weeping with me. Then, slowly, Sharpbeak pulled the trigger and the bullet shot out. It all happened in lesss than the blink of an eye. As the bullet headed for Buttercup suddenly Moonbeam did something amazing. Something that makes me proud to be her brother. Something I wished I'd done. You could see the expression on her face as it happened. She had clearly thought what I had thought, 'What's the point of living without your best friend?' You could see her thinking it. You could see her deciding it. And I saw her do it. It made my heart miss a beat. My beloved sister had just jumped in front of Buttercup. |
