Scare Tips
Here are some helpful tips on how to scare your victims-er visitors.
1. The Pop-and-boo. The most used scare is the old pop-and-boo.This involves the actor juping up behind a prop or wall and yelling boo or ahh or something.

2. A good variation on this would be giving the actor a line to deliver. In 2003 we had an actor dressed as a trick or treater jump from behind a wall and yell,"Get out while you still can!"he would then continue running pass the guests and then backstage to pop out again.

3. Hiding in plain-sight. I think this one is more satisfing for the actor because they tricked the guest. It usually involves an actor dressed as a dummy sitting in a chair. We have also had an actor
stand still in a room with other standing fake dummies.

4. The grave-digger. This is a hide in plain-sight scare with a twist. Have an actor dressed as a grave digger holding a shovel. Be sure that the actor is standing on a concrete surface or this scare dosen't really work. When the guests aproach the the grave digger they begin to question weather he is an actor or just an elaborate prop. Before they can decide the grave digger lurches forward and scrapes the shovel on the concrete causing a loud shcreach and always some screams. This one usually seems to work more on the older kids.

5. The what-tha? This scare was created by one of our actors and was a huge hit at Ravenswood Manor. He would crawl down a hall grunting and snorting then he would glance up, snarl at the guest and rush forward making the noise similar to chewbaca. It was the perfect combinatin of humor and fright.
