What They See...

© October 19, 1998
Even in darkness, her soul's light abounds
That is what they say, though she it astounds.
She doesn't see joy or hope, doesn't see love
She sees pain unending, no light from above.

Though affection she may feel, she just cannot see
The hope, life, light, and love — just her own apathy.
They wish, they comfort, they support, they hug,
But only she sees the large hole that's been dug...

She dug it very deep, intending to bury her pain
But instead her entire being was the pit's gain...
Now she fell in and can't see a way out
Except to give up, give in to self-doubt.
