Revealing Secrets

If you want to understand I will tell;
It'll ring out clear, as a well-rung bell.
But first be sure you're ready to hear
The pain within, the sorrow, the fear.

I have learned that once I start
I can't really stop after just part.
Once I speak, you'll know it all.
Know that, as you make your call.

But if I speak, and you're still there,
I'll come to trust  that you do care.
And you will gain by listenin' to me:
For in return, a good friend I can be.

Know I will listen and support you too
With loyalty and devotion of rare few.
Supporting your wants and your goals
Through the befriending of our souls.

Do you believe you want to know all of me?
Of the sharp pain as well as of the glee?
Are you sure you want to stay by my side,
Even when life seems to dive into a riptide?

Or should I step away, and not tell you now?
Drift apart with naught but a friendly silent bow?
Or claim to be busy if I'm having a bad day?
Shall I allow false distance to come our way?

I'm offering you an out, no need to hear this,
You can continue in distant, but blind, bliss.
Yet I want to talk with you — about it all...
To know we can be friends without a wall.
