Victory Dance

© August, 1998 - revised 2007
Far, far from where I started...
Far, far from where I began...
A new land, a new dream,
A new life is at hand.

I left behind my troubled past,
Dark disaster looms no longer.
My hopes & dreams, loud & clear;
My soul feels so much stronger.

His arrogance, and the pain
Have been left far, far behind.
Now I live out of their prison,
Free forevermore of their bind.

My goals met early:
One of them by nearly a year.
I can only hope that
The path to the rest is so clear.

Exhaustion from my struggles
At times, still leaves me weary,
But no longer does my future
Promise to seem ever-dreary.

A new beginning
Blesses me here;
A new reality
That I don't fear.

My victory dance cometh,
It's time now to begin.
The music of my soul
Pours forth — I win!

For me it starts with drumming,
But for you, maybe it's the flute.
The way it sounds'not as important
As the new tune — no longer mute.

Let the world see my passion,
My whimsy, and my pride.
As I now express myself
With nothing I must hide.

Move my body in my dance —
In the rhythm of my soul —
Show the world that I'm back,
That I've reached my goal!
